Since yesterday CNN will only be available from 2 AM to 4 PM and the rest of the time "Discovery" will be shown on that channel.

According to customer service this is a marketing decison and final. Quote "there is no interest in CNN at the evening times".

Get an old analog Sky receiver someone is chucking out.
    CNN
    CNBC
    Bloomberg (Part time)
    Eurosport (English option)
    MTV Central (germany)
    MTV pop2 (Germany)
    Viva (Pop Germany)
    Viva+ (different pop)
And about 20 more Polish/ German plus many radio.

    All free.

Add LNB for 13E or move dish and get
TV5, BBC World TV, Arte/France5, DW TV (english part time) and 11 more inc RAI1, 2 & 3.

    All free

Or spend about €300 once off for a Dgital Satellite system for over 1000 free TV & Radio including many decent free channels on Sky. No piracy, no subscription. No Contract.

I had cable 3 places in Limerick and one in Dublin. My worst analog Satellite pictures are better quality.

If you only want BBC/UTV/C4 and get a good analog cable feed it is worth it. Far better value than Sky.

If you want a wide variety of News in English and Foriegn specialist channels with 100s of English Radio too, Free Satellite is the thing.

If you want the equivalent of Chorus or NTL Digital packs then Sky is better value at about same price as you get to keep the gear and can cancel after a year and still have 60+ Radio and 12 or so decent channels from the 100+ free.

(CNN is free on almost every satellite)

Nice of them to do this in the middle of a war...

I got a call from Chorus telling me, that they have the right to change the lineup of their packages without notice to the customer and do so as they think it is best for their market share.

The main question I still have is:
How in the middle of an armed conflict a major news network can just be replaced without a warning to the customer, can not really be explained unless one is cynically assuming that the way CNN is broadcasting is not according to the political whit for Ireland and SKY News is better in that respect.

In any case, I talked to the regulator comreg and while they were fast in answer, their answer was the same. Chorus has the right to change their lineup at any time without notice. That is part of their contract agreements with me (never saw that but hey).

So goodbye Chorus - Hello Sky (cost the same money but gives more).

    /Sven

I got an e-mail from Marie Barker , the Customer Relations Manager of Chorus following my complaint:

    --
In relation to the your complaint regarding CNN. We recently added E4 to the basic line up in response to popular demand in Swords Malahide. To make room for this channel we had to move the Discovery Channel to share with CNN as we did not want to loose a channel.
I have voiced your concerns with our Marketing Department.
Unfortunately this is the only stream we can use at present.
    --

I love it when they lie to one right into the face as E4 is not on the channel on which either Discovery or CNN was before. Discovery/CNN are now on both the old place of Discovery and CNN. So I get it double just shared times.

    Newest e-mail from Chorus:

    1. CNN will now Start at 8am each morning and end at 10am.
    2. Discovery will start at 10am until 9pm
    3. CNN will be available from 9pm until 2am.
    4. Discovery 2am to 8am.

This seams to be the combined output of Chorus when Customer Service / Marketing and Engineering work together.

Well at least now in the evenings there is CNN again.

    /Sven
