    I have a Thomson DTH7000 and it is a dvd player/hard disk recorder. It is the absolute business at this very moment I am recording a program whilst listening to my MP3 collection how cool is that.

    They're both pretty good machines, though I'd probably choose JVC over the Samsung.

    Having said that, it would be cheaper and better to get seperates ie a stand alone VCR and DVD player. That way, if one breaks down, you still can use the other, unlike the combi.

    yeh i agree standalones are safer if one breaks down ,applies to loads of stuff
