    Craftfest: Grand day out.

It was a bit of a grey wet morning when we headed out to Craftfest but our sprits were far from soggy. We got to the Red cow complex and arrived just in time for the opening ceremony.
This was done by Sorita and David Rankine (http://www.avalonia.co.uk/)
They took us all on our first journry of the day and Called upon the Goddess Artemis
To bless the days proceedings and all the good that would be done there.

Why Artemis? Well Craftfest was run by Barbara Lee and Lora O’Brien (http://www.irishwitchcraft.com/) in conjunction with the Children of Artemis (http://www.avalonia.co.uk/).

Over 200 people attended Craftfest and there were witches, wiccans and assorted pagans.
The venue was split in two, one side held the stage and talk areas the other the wonderful stall that had nearly every thing you could think. Robes, candles, wands, jewelry, crystals.
There was also an art exbition with Goddess pictures to faires sprites and magical scenes.

The guest speakers were wonderful sharing their views on living a magical life and the reoccurring theme of that all magic and answers you need are with and that you need to look and find them. A big part of the day was meeting others. Chatting with those who were sitting beside you and learning what they thought. There were a lot of people there who had not been to any sort of pagan gathering before and this was the start of them coming out of the Broom closet. I bet there will be a lot more people at next An Fainne Meeting in Dublin.

The best-dressed witch and the best cackle contest were wonderfully lighthearted parts of the day. The Belly dancing was wonderful and so was the spiral dance that was part of the closing ceremonies. A huge circle was formed and we were all chanting, with drums and circling clockwise and then the circle split and looped to become a huge spiral which went on and on and got faster and faster. All the energy raised was put to making Craftfest 2004 bigger and better then this years and if the reaction of all the participants were anything to go by it will be that and more.

Once the closing was done it was time for the band a few drinks to talk over all that had happened. So if any of you where there and wondered who I was well I was the one in the Hat
    Yes that Hat.
