Just what you want to while away those last few hours in work to the Easter Hols! There's a bit of a difference to this lyrics quiz in that I don't know any of the answers - that's why I'm asking!

I listen to Phantom mostly during the day on my headphones in work. Music's good but there's no DJ to tell you what's playing. These are songs I've often heard but don't know their names or who they're recorded by. And google can't find them..

See if you can be a clever clogs and help me out at the same time. Some of these are probably very easy. And apologies in advance if I've misheard any of these lyrics!

    Thanks!

    1)

    Male vocal - Slow song

"I think to myself what a disgrace I've become
She won't fail me cause she's my friend
    She won't rat me out..."

    2)

This has been played a lot recently (so I've nearly all the lyrics here!):

"Look at all the people on the street
With their eyes on the ground
    Never making the single sound
Look into their hollow empty eyes
    I see tears behind smiles
and you know it's no surprise...
Hey everybody take a look at me
You know that I'll be anybody
That you want me to be
We gotta find a place where we can let ourselves be free
    CHORUS
    All the lights are on
But it's a shame that there ain't no one home"

    3)

    Female vocal

"How can we fight this bloody war
    With not enough soldiers?"

    4)

"All I want is to be at your side
I'll be yours and you'll be mine
    Your a distant star
    Wonder where you are
    Will I see her falling?
All I want is to be..."

    5)

Alison's old theme tune from Heavy Traffic (I know she had JAMC at the very end but
    she had this for ages)
    - sysnthesized instrumental with a guy going "c'mon" and
"keep it going" at regular intervals - this song is everywhere (was used on trailer
for Bachelor's Walk at one stage) - just don't know its name or who it's by.

P.S. On the off chance you're seeing this Alison, hope you're well and we miss you!

    6)

"Even if you work it out the problem still remains just like a desert's drought
    Chorus:
You show me how to (What you give is what you get)"

Sounds a lot like Space, but I don't think it's actually them (bear in mind
I spent ages looking on the web for a "Supergrass tune" that in fact turned
out to be 'There are many things' by Lir!)

    7)

"In the next house they're breaking down, breaking down the walls"

    8)

"So far away but it's so easy to see you,
when I'm with you I wanna put my arms around you,
And I wanna know do you feel the same way?
Cos if you do I wanna stay forever with you"

    9)
" Take your father down to the sea,
it's been ? years since he last felt a breeze
It's a long way to go without something that you need
It's the best place to be"

Steve Conway used to play this a lot back in the days of
the Breakfast Show. Think it's called 'Ladder to the Stars'
or something like that but I can't remember who it's by - American or Canadian I think...

    10)
"Starring Elizabeth Taylor as Velvet Brown
    In the National Velvet Underground..
    ...She's dressed to kill
And she's ready for her close-up now, Mr Demille"
