    Things to note:
    1) id dm 64 player maps are NEEDED. Available from quake.ie ftp://ftp.quake.ie/pub/files/q2levels/dm_64.exe (7 megs!)
    2) 7pm-8pm deathmatch, 8pm-9pm teamplay with multiple teams
    3) server is rex.barrysworld.com
    4) irc channel is #barrysworld on QuakeNet irc net, possible servers are irc.se.quakenet.eu.org, irc.fi.quakenet.eu.org, irc.uk.quakenet.eu.org.
    ( 5) feel free to tag irl onto the end of your name and use the female/jungle model)

    ps. so when do we get our own megagame? maybe stress the setup a bit Vishnu? for testing?


    TEXT FROM THE BARRYSWORLD MEGAGAME PAGE BELOW

    The buildup continues. As mentioned on our main page we're going to swop our Q2 servers round tomorrow and run MegaGame2 on Rex, our biggest machine. Rex is not just a dual PII 300. The architecture of the whole machine is worthy of acclaim from the motherboard (twin PCI buses and other stuff thats too technical for me to remember at this time of night) right through to masses of the best quality ram. None of this simple EDO stuff round here. And then, of course, theres its connection to our Network. Full Duplex 100mb Fast Ethernet should handle anything we can throw at it. In theory, the Internet connection we have should handle around about 3600 Q2 players. Pity our servers would be long dead from overload if we tried to reach that number!

    We're also hoping for an appearance from our mates over at Llamanet on Saturday. Look out for BloAtEd amongst others. It might turn into "shoot an admin night" with us there as well ;) I hope the Minos lads can make it too to complete the set.

    MegaGame2 dates and details Monday 11th May 1998

    This Saturday, 7-9 we plan to have a little madness hit the UK (and anyone else with more bandwidth than sense).
    We're having a purpose built mod written and its just about ready so we're gonna do it and see what happens! (Zarjazz is to thank yet again)

    Saturday 16th May 1900-2000 BST will be a DeathMatch frenzy. A Free For All on the id 64 Player maps.
    2000-2100gmt will be Teamplay :) on the same maps (just about the only 64 player maps lots of people have got)

    We dont intend to wimp out at 64 players. Getspace errors permitting we're confident that our Network and Server can handle 80 players well, and 100 players with a bit of a struggle. At 1900 we'd like to try for 100 players!! If it sucks we'll drop back to 80. So, bring a friend and come and get yer arse kicked on Q2!!!! :)

    You'll need to download the maps if you havent already dm_64.exe (7.3mb)

    The Teamplay option we're going to use is similar to CTF in that we'll setup something like 6 teams and then assign ppl to teams automatically as they join the server. Theres a player id feature (that isnt ready yet :) but will make life in the teamplay session a lot easier. Also, we're actually going to turn the HyperBlaster off this time. Its a lag machine as each bolt it fires is tracked across the map.

    One final thing, all other servers on Rex (he's our server for these games) will close down from 18:45 til 21:05. So, Jailbreak and FreezeTag etc will be down for the duration.

    Come and be a part of one of the biggest UK fragfests possible online! Tell yer mates! Tell anyone!! Tell yer cat!!! We'd love 100 players for 7pm!!!
    All meetup in QuakeNet irc channel #barrysworld before the game and during if theres any crashes (have to face facts, 100 players online is real lunacy and anything could happen so be prepared for "interruptions"). Last time we had ppl arrive in the channel hours before the game and there wasnt a sober typist in the house by game start! Its PARTYTIME!!!
