I am thinking of subscribing to IOL broadband but this statement on their website is putting me off.

"Can you use from more then 1 computer?
No the account can only be used from one computer. This is due to the fact that it is a single IP address and USB connection".

Is this correct? Is there a way to hook up IOl Broadband to multiple PC’s? If not, is there an affordable broadband product that allows you hook up multiple PC's that I should consider as an alternative?

    Thanks

In one word I would say YES.

Now i dont know if u would be bothered doing it.
It would involve some thing like this.
You might have to set up ur own private network and the machine which is hooked up to IOL could act as the internet gateway.

Give more detail of the setup you have in mind, then I might be able to give more accurate info.
How many pcs, or laptops you want to give acces to, would you have an old box which could act as an dedicated gateway.

Do you want a win32 only option, or would you happy to mess around with unix.
    etc...

    Just 2-3 PC's.

have look at this software for win32
    http://www.kerio.com/wrp_home.html

    and
    http://www.kerio.com/wrl_home.html
Or you could google for something else.

Say pc 'A' is the one connected to IOL,
depending on number of pcs connected to 'A', you might get away with just having netwok cards or a hving to buy a switch or hub.

It can get a bit expensive

Thats why I asked if you would be happy to mess with unix (much cheaper), its not that hard but can get fustrating if you are new to it and there is no one who can give little pointers.

There is a lot of talk on boards about this option. Take a look on the IOFFL board and here and look for things about routers. Basically you plug the ADSL line into the router and then plug the rest of the computer into the other places on the hub. This is the sort of thing you should be looking for -

So if I was to purchase IOL Broadband
    then purchase the router here
then plug the ADSL line into this router
and hook up each PC from the router using telephone wire (?) ...
I would have ADSL on several PC's???

Would additional equipment be needed? Is only 1 ADSL modem needed?

    Thanks
