Pings aren't great but then what can I expect on an interleaved connection. Can't say I noticed any difference in game though, every game I've played has been silky smooth from Asheron's Call 2 to Ultima Online and Wolfenstein.

tick tock, still waiting for the day for all the nets radsl guys/gals to be buzzing along at full speed

i cant see them not fixing it, just a matter of time

    stick tight :ninja:

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 832 ✭✭✭Sloth

To be honest I'm not sure whats going to happen. If RADSL gets fixed I'll definitly switch over to it but god knows when exactly thats going to happen. I doubt Netsource will get the extra bandwidth when they say they will but hopefully it won't take more than a month or so.

Hehe yeah but in fairness the signs seemed to point to it not being fixed. Oh well, I guess the pie is firmly in my face.

Nice Chief, Id like to see the jolt pings too, local pings arnt much use to me TBH. I need good ping to jolt UK and gameservers NL for gaming.

I could be over there with you in 2 months unless netsource sort out thier act quickly.

What happens when you reach the CAP? do you have to get out the cheque book every time you connect? are they billing ppl who exceed cap?

I would not put up with that... Can you ever play online games ??

In fairness to Netsource, theres six of us on this line in the one house, and those are the pings when we're all downloading. Its a good bit better when kazaas not on the go, but it does mean we can't play online when anything else is happening. I have seen a ping as low as 35 on urban terror, but just the once.

With regards to the line being down twice since last friday, I'm not sure what happened there, and we've only had the line since friday, so I'll wait and see if that keeps happening before I pass judgement.

I still have isdn installed on my second line with a utvIp account. I have to dial up to them to play any games. I'm reluctant to cancel my second line until i get a stable low ping, eircom looks more attractive every day

Why would you want to leave kazaa on while gaming. Do you think you are going to get a low ping while downloading fatbird sex at 50kb/sec.

I don't know what I'd do without my fatbird sex. Kazaa generally only gets about 5k/sec on most downloads (except for the odd exception) which the line should be more than capable of handling at the same time as UT. I never turn kazaa off anyway.

And there we see why our connections are crap. Not that I'm excusing Netsource, they should be giving us the service we paid for!

Seems to me that NetSource *are* giving us what we're paying for - SOHO has a contention of 48:1, which when you add in the fact that people are leaving on Kazaa, and downloading 50 Meg Linux ISOs . . . . I rest my case.

Everyone's entitled, I guess, but no limit downloads have a price, clearly.
