    Well don't, I just moved to ireland and it was quite a shock, crap connections and ****ty caps. I used about 5 gig a month just on gaming back in belgium but here I don't even get a nice ping (netsource) so I download anime 24/7 (pings go up and down, usually +200 but on a rare occasion it might happen that i ping around 60)

    The bright side of this is, I still pay for my connection in belguim so when I go back I'll be very very happy :)

    Just to compare

    Belgium:
    Cable: 10 Mb/s --> €50 / month
    ADSL: 4Mb/s --> €36 / month
    8Mb/s --> €60 / month

    I'm getting homesick :(

    :(

    netsource is fine now?

    Yesterday I pinged around 60 on UK servers, today over 300 :/
    Strange **** happening, they'll have to make sure they have enough bandwidth to please everyone or they'll lose customers (including me)

  • Hosted Moderators Posts: 2,563 ✭✭✭Tazzle

    Tripkipke you must be the only person at this stage to have netsource and still have bad pings, even the ultra bad case of ando the great has been resolved with the introduction of their 155mb/s pipe into the network. Contact netsource me thinks.

    Also, keep in mind that people who live outside Dublin have to go through extra hops to get to UK servers.
    If you live in Cork (example) you get about 8 ms higher ping.

    Know the feeling dude, just moved here from NZ, inet servces are a bit more widespread back home, though most ISPs have recently introduced data caps on the flatrate adsl connections...
    On UTV dialup atm but looking for some adsl action so I can get back to my leeching. Unsure who to go with at the moment... netsource seems to be the best bang for buck but there are a lot of complaints on this thread... suggestions?

    In the local irc channel I used to idle in all the local dsl guys used to run ftps of their connections - just private sites to share stuff with the other guys on the channel... anything like that go on here?

    Have Netsource stress free for the last couple of months. However, I've been running Ping Plotter for the last hour and just had a look.

    Average ping to clarity.jolt.co.uk is 3787. Yes I did just say 3787. That must be a record! Its kinda funny trying to do anything with a ping like that.

    Ah well I'm sure it will be back to its usual good self tomorrow.

    I got Netsource and play jolts, gamesnet and 34sp.com game servers all night almost every night. I have between 30-50 dos ping and about 60-70 ingame ping rock solid.

    Im thinkin of gettin bb since it will be enabled in my area soon, however i would love to know what pings people actually get ingame with services like Eircom or iOL broadband, not the dos pings which are often way lower than the ingames ones.

    Im currently on Esat Surf No Limits ISDN and can get very gud pings ingame for 64k, my normal is about 50ms ingame to Jolt servers, game = sof2 capture the flag., my current dos ping to jolt is about 32ms - 40ms.

    Im kinda hoping that ingame pings with Istream Starter/IoL Broadband would be around the 35ms-45ms steady?

    Very unlikely. You won't get any better that you're getting with ISDN atm.
