New release of QuakeWorld out today.

Some bad things about it -
The new version does not support the FAQ proxy,
It has got map checking now - so if you have changed your maps in any way (waterhacking, vising, etc.) you can't play unless the server has done it too,
The Physics have been changed so it is more like WinQuake now.

Some good things about it -
The FOV command in GLQW now works,
    Sprites are fixed,
Can record demos without having to reconnect.

The new version is also NOT compatible with any older versions, so if you download this, you can't play on a v2.1 server (as quake.ie's are at the moment).

Just wondering if quake.ie are going to update to the new version ? I like the old one better.
What does anyone else think ? (come on EWJ, heres a real topic to discuss :)

    Alan

If the physics behave more like Winquake then I'm all for it. As it stands, QW and winquake are completely different games, being able to rocket jump higher changes all the tactics. The sv_friction should remain the same though. The higher default setting is better for net play.

Obviously quake.ie should run a new qw server in tandem with the existing ones, see how it develops and upgrade the other servers as necessary. It's still just an executable that sits in the quake directory, so there's no reason why you can't just rename your old one and use it when you want.

    huh?
