Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Nine Months For Bosnich

    NINE MONTHS FOR BOSNICH

    from Sky News.............

Footballer Mark Bosnich has been suspended for nine months by the Football Association after testing positive for cocaine.

The FA backdated the former Chelsea goalkeeper's suspension from December 23, 2002 when a temporary worldwide restriction was imposed.

He claims his drink was spiked on a night out last November but an FA disciplinary commission ruled after a two-day hearing that he was guilty of charges of improper conduct and breaching their doping control regulations.

The 31-year-old Australian could have faced a ban of up to two years but will now be available to play again before the end of September.

However, if he plays English football again, he will be subject to target drug-testing.

Bosnich has said he will appeal the suspension.

The FA will now contact football's world governing body, FIFA, to request that the suspension be applied worldwide.

Bosnich, who has had his contract terminated by Chelsea, was not fined but must pay up to £10,000 in the FA commission's costs.

He also has an appeal pending against the Premier League's ruling that Chelsea's decision to terminate his contract did not constitute unfair dismissal.

That case is still to be heard by the Football League appeals committee.

Bosnich struggled to break into the first team in his first season at Stamford Bridge.

He suffered a major blow in November, 2001 when he tore a thigh muscle in a match against Everton which forced him on to the sidelines and opened the way for current number one goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini.

A year later, he returned the positive drug test and was admitted to the depression unit of a medical facility after being diagnosed as "suffering from severe clinical depression".

A B sample a month later confirmed that Bosnich had tested positive for cocaine.

He was charged by the FA with breaching doping regulations and bringing the game into disrepute.

Earlier this year, Chelsea gave the player notice that they intended to sack him and on February 4, he lost his appeal to the Premier League against the dismissal.

That's a bit harsh Sposs. He got caught doing something he shouldn't have done. Who can say that's never happened to them? There's plenty more professional footballers out there doing illegal narcotics, they just haven't been caught yet...

its not always an easy ride in football.... look at what the press can do to you. If you love the game and cant break into the first team you could easily become depressed depending on what kinda person u are.
