I was connected to IOL BB at the start of August. I've friend in the Comms business who deals with Eircom on daily basis he submitted my number to them last week, my line is still does not pass the test. Make what you like of that.

According to Chaz from IrishBroadband, they're currently building the Ballycoolin transmitter.

    /me mumbles...

    ...couple of weeks...
    ...plus...
    ...4 weeks...

    hmm, looks like...

    ...two months anybody?

I wonder if the 12 month contract is based on 12 IBB months?
Or even better if the bill is €48.40 per IBB month?

    ww)

    It is what it's.

I've just ordered a LOS test off the Ballycoolin Transmitter!

Reckon 'bout 3-4 weeks for full service...

According to several IBB people, the ballycoolin mast is up - so it's definitely happening

I've been told by IBB that LOS tests are starting in the next week or so, so why not ring them up and ask them to book you one?

Got the call from IBB this evening... LOS test booked for next Thursday morning.

As long as it's not raining.

Hopefully in just over 12 hours i'll know if IBB can save me from this 56k hell.

I wish I could be more optimistic...

Had my LOS test to the Ballcoolin Transmitter half hour ago. No chance. No chimney for a start and too many trees/high houses in the way. They did tell me though that if they get the 3.5Ghz license they would be able to roll out the Ripwave product very quickly and cheaply. You'd be able to walk into the likes of PC World and buy the IBB Ripwave Kit and go home and be online straight away. Nice if that happens.

of course the irony is the building that's obstructing my LOS is the one that I was convinced just HAD to be the one they'd put their transmitter on... because it's by far the biggest in the Ballycoolin area. Buggery.

    Oh well. Onwards and upwards.

hmm i seem to have mislaid Plan B...

    Hunters Run

To find it, get out a map & draw a straight line through the IBB transmitter, through that big white building & keep going for about 4.5km (according to their GPS receiver) and bingo - there's my house.

    gahhhh

Same story here, somebody planted trees in the way! Did anyone pass the bloody thing, cos had a look at the paperwork, one big pile of FAILED. Any ideas now, cos i'm not holding my breath about ripwave.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,732 ✭✭✭pete

well they told me it was running at about 50/50

they probably just keep the paperwork on us losers together

    sigh
