Could someone give me the name of any decent Irish band, maybe I've just gotten out of touch but are there any left? The only decent stuff I've heard recently is off some battle of the bands thing involving people between 17 and 18 years old, not to mention a kiss tribute come on people help me.

A kiss tribute? Where did you here that?!!!

Tell me the kind of music you like and I'll try to point you in the right direction. I think I've heard them all at this stage!

Go and see Fairuza in the Temple Bar Music Centre on Thursday May 15th. They will restore your faith in the Irish Music Scene. I swear. It's going to be the gig of the year.

I don't really like wilt they're quite repetitive. Oh for the days when a song was a simple tune on the whistle accompanied by a delightfully amusing jig.

Berkeley get my vote as well - great band.
    Also, the ever wonderful Turn.
Just started listening to the 66 Electric lately - fantastic band. Can't wait to see 'em live.
Seen Johnny Pyro on Friday night - fecking brilliant stuff altogether.

Why has nobody mentioned Skyjack yet? Those guys rock!

There's also The Debonairs....but they're from Belfast (however they still rock.)

    And Popstar.

    Right I'll shut up now.

Theres a fairly decent band called Popstar that play the Temple Bar Music Centre sometimes.

Sorry may be have been a bit of an exageration, I just don't like the frames very much and glen hansard annoys the crap out of me especially with t.v. appearences as examples of what is meant to be good modern irish music, not a good person to be using that title for.

In fairness, I'm happy if any half-decent Irish band can get the media coverage they need to promote their music....

    Stiff Little Fingers
    Thin Lizzy
    My Bloody Valentine...
    Undertones..
Paul McCartney is half-irish i guess...

You hould really look overseas for the better music... although even that is difficult enough.
