converting a DVD to mpeg/avi

is there any programs out that does this since i hate having to stick in a dvd everytime i wanna watch a dvd from my pc onto my tv while having the pc doing something else i could just play the mpeg/avi file? any suggestions?

dvd2avi + virtual dub will sort you out . now off i go looking for the easy way to make vob - vcd r svcd

I found super dvd ripper to be excellent for dvd to mpeg

but does take a long to rip but worth it because quality is very good
