    Be a good idea instead of an outright ban on people.... they go to prison first for a while (cant post anywhere else) and come back on probation... if they mess up again.. they are 12 clicked.

    Of course, the death penalty will still be a used form of punishment for blantant spammers. :)

    Users in the 'Banned' group can post there. So, being restricted to Prison is the same as an outright ban. This might change of course, with having a 'Banned' and a 'Convicted' group instead for example. And who knows, we may end up having a banned user who wants to subscribe or something ;)

    The death penalty would be more like deleting the account.

    One problem here is that people who are banned may not find about it easily, but now they can come along and say "Aw, I was framed" (BLP for example) or "Aw, I'm not such a pain any more" (tomo) without going through the whole thing of registering 28 other similar accounts.

    If this turns out to be a terrible idea we'll just bin it.

    How about ye make it so that banned users get redirected to prison when they click on a link for another board or thread...
