Our local newspaper carried an article a month ago, which claimed a senior local politician had secured the town's place in the first round of broadbands exchange ADSL roll-out. This was happening in 'the next couple of weeks'. Lo and behold, being well used of waiting, one month later I phone the Ericom 1800 number to be told, 'your exchange is not included in the list of exchanges to be upgraded in the next 6 to 8 months'.

what has this got to do with broadband fourm ?
post relevant stuff to broadband fourm not that you can't get broadband.
this is more of a IOFFL topic
not sure there is much we can do to help but IrelandOFFLine would be the place to start.

The first phase occured in 2002, there was an esat and an eircom first phase which occured in parallel.

I always thought that west Cork had a certain timelessness about it.

Slightly confused politician perhaps? : There was a lot of noise about the broadband link to the Clonakilty Business Park (out by the Rugby Club) with lots of big flashy National Development Signs - its a fibre link from Ballincollig to the Business park (afaik this was put down by esat). Nothing to do with last mile connection of a DSL service to your house/office in the town, unfortunatly.
