    ...it's very good!

Over the last week - 2 weeks the QoS of IBB has increased dramatically.

Download speeds are great, combined of 120 - 150k a sec when using p2p or just downloading normally.

Today, downloading E3 vids i was getting 124k a sec from gamespot.

If you're wondering the reason for this sorta pimp, it's because IBB has gotten loads of bad press regarding it's service (me included) and I thought it only fair that the good be advertised as well as the bad.

Well i've be relatively happy with my service from IBB.
BUT recently i have noticed it isn't that good.
Yesterday i recieved an email with new network configurations and a new IP and DNS etc etc. I saved the old ones and stuck the new ones in.. What do i know notice... Crazy crazy things. just look!!

What mast are you on? My IP was changed a few weeks ago and then it went bad, but it has eventually gotten to how it is now.

I'd say hold on for now, it's more than likely that your IP was changed to the new equipment that they were installing and they're having teething probs.

    RTE

But I.T equipment doesn't behave like mechaniary ;)
    Its either a 1 or an 0 :P

Sorry IBB But as an independant im gonna rain on the parade.

I know a few people with IBB and out of the 4 i know only 1 has a good service.

Last night i was playing CS with 2 people on IBB and both of them had wildly erratic pings. From 40 - 500 constantly.

If i was on that service i wouldnt pay for it.

Add another "1" to the good service Dusty.

On Radox I'm getting a consistent 30-50ms latency. Highest it usually goes to is 90ms.

Interestingly enough a mate of mine on the RTE mast isn't too happy with his 1mb connection since he's not getting what he should be out of it.

I'm on the 3Rock Transmitter(s). For over a month (immediately after my install) it was absolutely brutal, but it's flying now.

I would have to backup Dustaz up on that was on Radox CS server the other night
and someone had there name as "I hate IBB"
mind you gamers are the hardest to please, me included.

Nah, it was on a different server during a clan match.

BTW lemming, one of the guys i was talking about is defo on the RTE transmitter. Hes never had a stable ping for even a day at a time. Sounds like that mast is to be avoided.

My mate on the RTE mast has said that the service was amazing when he first got it, then they took it down to do some maintenance of some sort and it's been none-too-good ever since although having its good and bad days.

did not mean it was the same person just that i saw someone with the name "I HATE IBB".
Seems game pings are not that reliable for some people.

    ditto

it can be exactly whats its meant to be one minute (ie. a 1mb connection) then the next its as sluggish as my 28k modem, with the ping to boot!

It's the new technology their using, 'frequency hopping'. When i was on the Sandyford mast I would get 18 pings to Jolt! Now that was off peak (after 6). During the day the service was completely unusable, so i had to give up the 1337 ping in favour of a higher erratic ping with better download speeds.

It was tough justifying the jump a few weeks ago, but as it stands right now, downloading the IGN insider Half Life 2 videos at 100k combined, i'm pretty happy.

My heart does go out to the guys on the RTÉ mast though.
