This seemed a rather interesting idea after seeing Metallica being completely butchered by a bunch of asses.

So, what do you think are the best Metallica covers out there?

    Personally, can't go wrong with:

Apoptygma Berzerk - Fade To Black
Razed In Black - Welcome Home (Sanitarium)

There's some cool album with melodic death bands playing metallica - in flames/ eternal oath etc. I've only heard a few tracks from it on the radio, but it was soooo cool

seconded, who could think 4 chello'ists could do metal songs, they do a great master of puppets (have done it several times), they also do a great Sanitarium, among others.

Their version of "one" (2nd album) is brilliant. The solo is jaw-dropping and I had to listen to it several times to convince myself they didn't just dub the guitar solo into the song.

"Domination" & "Refuse Resist" off the same album are also really good I might add :)

    God I'm pissed off!

Just got the new Kovenant album, which is supposed to have 2 bonus tracks, one of which is a cover of The Memory Remains. But there's no bonus tracks on there at all, despite it saying it on the track-listing. Not even hidden tracks, as sometimes can be the case.

Sum 41 were the best by far there, got all the songs and stuff perfect. Singing was a bit off though.

One thing I learned from Metalliica Icon was that the crappy bands out there do have allot of potential. Why dont they use it? I.E. Avril levinge's band (Not her), Sum 41

As for Limp bizkit and snoop.......*Sigh*

Yeah, did you see that fookin' eegit make an arse of himself!! What were they thinking when they let a fookin' rapper, known for drawling and not talking properly, do a metallica song? And Avril Lavigne.......I'm sorry, but the girlie vocals just ruined Fuel. Hetfield and Co. put on a brave face for the night, methinks. And you wonder why James went mad on the grog for a while - he probably knew the friggin' programme was coming up!!!!!

I know this isn't exactly the orignal question but has anybody heard Metallitia, the Irish cover band, the lead singer also plays with Thin Az Lizzy and the Ozzy tribute band?? They do it better than those on MTV Icon anyhow!!!
