    Hello,
I have a free webpage up at

    http://www.geocities.com/marcus_flanagan/

It worked grand until this morning when I checked it...now there always appears 2 debug error messages on any page of the site. Anyone know why?

Remove the top two lines of html on each page, that will sort that out.

Also you should have posted on the webmaster board

Below is what you dont need.

    <script language="JavaScript">var PUpage="76001079"; var PUprop="geocities"; </script><script language="JavaScript" src="http://www.geocities.com/js_source/pu5geo.js"></script><script language="JavaScript" src="http://www.geocities.com/js_source/ygIELib9.js?v3"></script><script language="JavaScript">var yviContents='http://us.toto.geo.yahoo.com/toto?s=76001079&l=NE&b=1&t=1053088225';yviR='us';yfiEA(0);</script&gt;

how can I remove that when it is generated by the server?
I checked in my file manager and that code does not appear in my files when I look at them thru the editor..only when I view the source live online.

You can't. It's a free server so they can do whatever they want to you. Like adding popups etc.

    http://www.brinkster.com

Try them. No popups that I'm aware of, though their service isn't 100% reliable.

so this means that I have to live with always getting two debug errors on each page of my site?

Move to brinkster. No ads, less reliable though.

or alternatively, if you are happy with a crap domain name (www.somesite.com/yourname) then go with somethins like iolfree.ie or esatclear.ie.
No bandwidth limits AFAIK (unline brinkster). Not sure about server side scripting (CGI) though but there are enough remotely hosted apps out there anyway!
Or as tom-thebox said - get your own web host (and domain name).

I don't see script errors, I did get a blasted popup.

I have noticed a good few sites hosted on geocities are giving JavaScript errors (e.g. http://www.geocities.com/bmw2002ireland/irish_bmw_02_register.htm)

yeah - so I see but it definitely was not working earlier (I think the pc I was using had IE 5 but it has often given me errors on IE6.
(went back just there to test links on site and they now give errors on line 2 char 29 [couldn't be arsed looking at source code!])

    Well, the bets options are:

    eircom.net Webspace or:
    www.freehost.ie
