this problem has been happening on and off now for a couple of days. the cd player acts fine some days but other times..like now:mad: its not working at all..

it seems like there is no power going to it..it wont eject the tray or my music program wont recognise it..

    anyone have any ideas?

    thanks

how old is it? it might be just time to get a new one, they are dirt cheap these days but anyway, if it reads now and again chances are the laser is dirty, so try and cleaning cd and if that doesnt work then get a replacement drive :) hope it helps

as Ruu said the laser could just be dirty and if it's the case that it's broke replacements are cheap! Your power cable could be loose (the one connected to your cd rom) Just give it a check to see if it's the slightest bit loose, it's being known to happen, shouldn't be anything more than that. :)
