I can't seem to advance on the main game missions :(

The only sign on the map for a place to start a mission is a [V] (Lance at the manson), and can see a V on the map, but I can't find the pink marker to start it. I've checked all over the manson and its grounds and can't find it.

There is no other pointers on the Map (even drove around for a bit) to start a mission on the main storyline (i bought a few propertys and have some getting me revenue and some half way through the sub missions)

I have done all the other main missions i can, love fist, voodoo, mafia, etc

The last [V] mission I did was Copland, where you ambush 2 cops, take their uniform, go to the mall to blow it up.

    How can I advance further?

    Thanks

there are bugs first of all, things which should be there not being there etc. but have you tried the roof, dock, garden? I know you said you've tried everywhere but i had to say it......otherwise have you used cheats and saved? cuz appearently this causes bugs in the game that stop you from getting 100% completion ie 100 packages, all the rampages unique jumps etc. I've recently started again to get 100% this time without cheats.....

In order to complete the main missions you need to own a few places like the printing press, sunshine autos, kaufland cabs, the porn studio, the malibu club, i think, and the strip bar. You then need to complete the missions for these places so you are getting money off them. Then a mission, cap the collecter starts which is at the printing press. Once you complete this mission you have the last mission called keep your friends close which is at the mansion up stairs near the save point.

Have you done the Cherry Popper missions? If you have bought the ice cream parlour place and saved your game there, when you reload there's bugs to do with advancing the game, ie the pink circles for new missions don't appear, I don't think there's any way around it aprt from reloading a previous saved game or starting over

I heard of the bug saving at the ice cream place alright - nah I think the problem is I don't own the film studio or printshop yet. Didn't think I had gotten to the last main mission tho - only 34% completed the game.

Ta for getting back to me.

Buy up all the properties you can find (do you have the lap dancing club and the boat house?) do their missions too (not much of a mission in the case of the club, you just sit there and oggle for long enough heh).

    Teeth.

I think the printworks is actually the only essential asset for progress.

Some of the assets were unbelievably boring. They really should have made them optional (like the emergency services) because delivering 4 ice creams, run from cops, 4 ice creams, run from cops got astonishingly repetitive. I must have got caught 5 times out of pure tedium.

i found that the beach had minimal cops and plenty of people to sell to, just set it to the widest view and get ready to move when a copper gives chase

Just out of curiousity, how many properties are available to be purchased?
I've got 14 at the moment, but I'm wondering if there are any I've missed.

I've finished the main storyline, and I'm left with only the ultra-boring race-your-car-and-beat-your-score missions :/
Anyone else think it was really short?

There's loads of smaller properties, but alot of them are just handy places for saving your game.

I thought it was fairly short as well, I would have preferred a more expanded main storyline and less side missions, but its still a great game.

Have you completed the challenges at the race track? the dirt bike one, the racing one, might be another one too.
Have you done the Sunshine Autos missions? collecting all the cars on the shopping list.

Have you got the Hunter Assault Helicopter?
get a cop uniform from the police station, get a helicopter, fly to the army base, search around for the assault copter there, u need the police uniform so you won't get shot.

if you leave the car racing ones to the end you can get a rocket launcher and if you aim right, take out the other 3 cars at the start of the race, so you can complete the races at your leisure.

    Just a thought.

As for advancing the game, just keep buying stuff and building up your reputation/cash/% of game completed and after you have the printing works they'll come visit you for a slice of the cash.

I've bought all the properties I've come across and have completed all the missions for each of them (dunno what the deal with the "boat-yard" and "Pole Position" is though, can't seem to get them making money).
I've flown the Apache chopper aswell, sweet - but I think it should be faster, AFAIK the real one is really fast.
Nice the way you can do vigilante missions in it aswell... very hard though.

The daft thing is though, it still says I'm only 65% complete... there must be tons of hidden crappy missions.

in the strip club u gotta go inside and go to the stripper and wait there so long to get it to make money can't remember how long though

Pole Position - you have to spend 300 dolla with the dancer - go make a cup of tea or a fresh box of kleenex.

Boat yard - get into the fastest boat and a mission will start - something along the lines of pass the parcel. :)

Is there a trick to flying the boatplane when you have to drop the flyers?

The only way it will actually get in the air for me is if I go alone the wave-line, but staying in the air and flying through the checkpoints without crashing/hitting a building is fncking impossible.

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,016 ✭✭✭✭vibe666

just a bit of practice for the flying boat.

i find that if you start at the south end it is easier to work your way up, but it's just a case of getting used to the crappy handling of the thing and then hitting the checkpoints. that way by the time you've got to weave in and out of skyscrapers you've had some time to get used to flying the thing.

the good news is you only have to do a pair at a time, i.e. just hit the blue one and then make it to the red one without hitting anything in between. then you can fly around a bit and then go for the next pair.

just take it step by step, and you should be fine.

Oh, and make sure when you start the mission, it's a nice day. the sea will be a lot calmer and it'll be easier to get off the ground.

All of the unique jumps, hidden packages, rampages, vigilante missions, ambulance missions, taxi driving, pizza deliveries etc count towards the percentage in a big way.

Just like with GTA3, not much of the percentage goes with completing the story line. It's all the other crap that's extra that gets you to 100%.

    In Vice City, I'm on about 20%, in GTA3, I'm on 97%.
