Chieftec PSU Query

    Hey Folks.
    Wonder can anyone help here:
Bought me a Chieftec PSU "Chieftec PSU ATX 420W 2 fans
power supply for P4/AMD CPUs w/PFC " last week.

    Linky:
    http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?action=info&p=24478&t=635&l=2&AvdID=1&CatID=13&GrpID=10&s=pl

Anyway, stuck it in when I got it... all seems fine.
Then the next day, I switched on the PC and the MB POST reported that the Hardware Monitor function had found an error.
Went into the BIOS and saw that the fan in the PSU was running at about 1300 RPM (only seems to go up to about 1400RPM max?)

I turned off all the auto fan speed functions on the MB but it still runs slow?

    Any ideas ?
Is it knackered or is this normal?

    Cheers
    S.

Have you tried updating your Bios? Some PC's won't boot or problems are reported if the bios detects/Thinks a fan is going slower then it should. The PSU is probably fine tbh

    LoGIE,
    Yeah tried that.
    Tis defo the PSU though.

The fan barely puts out anything.
Gets v.hot if I use it for awhile.

Got an email off the Komplett tech, says I should send it back.

    Cheers for the reply though.
