one of the interesting facts in the results (pdf) was the publication of their average monthly voice minutes (blended pre+post pay):

    O2 Ireland: 188
    O2 UK: 107
    O2 Germany: 109

it's main reason for doing so was to offer a reason for higer Irish Avg. Revenue per User figures than with it's Uk and German operations.

wonder if Voda will step up the the mark and provide their voice minutes when they report on the 27th...

(p.s. for anyone who reads the subject line and has a heart attack - O2 have joined several other operators in writing-off investements they made in 3G and other areas during the hazzy days of the technology boom - this guardian article might put it into some context)

Meanwhile, O2 are still doing quite nicely here:
THERE were calls last night for reduced phone charges after the country's second biggest mobile operator announced trading profits of €123m - up 50pc in a year.

O2 took in €1.7m a day last year. It has an earnings margin twice that of its international parent company MMO2.

o2 Ireland has made a profit for years ...

irish mobile users are been taken for a ride ... how else is mmo2 going to pay for the 3g licence costs in the uk ?

What the hell is o2's long term strategy? They have sold thier dutch wing and now it looks like their German wing is up for sale.

Are they looking for a merger with KPN eventually? It certainly seems that mmo2 will either be taken over or merge in the next few years.
