Kid606 a.k.a. Miguel Depedro based in San-Fransisco has been described amongst
many other
things "A hard drive, hardcore superstar with a ravenous appetite for the most
mangled
avant-savant futurist punk noise." in NME July 2000. Artists like Cex,
Lesser, Blechtum
from Blechtum and Knifehandchop have recorded for his famous Tigerbeat6 record
label.
Instead of geeking out over new software, he goes punk rock injecting bratty-
ass fun into
music dominated by tech talk of fast fourier transforms. His live shows
unleash dense
beats and fashioned noise from the twin barreled plunderphonic bazooka
fashioned from two
powerbooks and a multichannel dj mixer. "Without much encourangement I used
to be totally
obsessed with using gliches and malfunctioning equipment as a sound source,"
he says.
"Because it was different, because of the sponteneity, because it was a new
distinguishable palette of sounds to work with that screamed: What you see as
an error,
we see as a voice - replacing 909's and 303's with skipping CD's and
malfunctioning
software." Kid606's working method is to smash up every subspecies of
electronic music
created during his lifetime into a pile of kindling, cover it with petrol, and
set it on
fire. Drum and bass, Autechre style IDM, Industrial, 80's to him, they are
all fodder
for annihilation.

magician whose mix CDs "Gold Teeth Thief" & "Minesweeper Suite" have redefined
the DJs
craft and drawn comparisons with Coldcuts legendary "Journeys by DJ" mix.
Fusing Eastern
sounds with industrial noise and RnB DJ /rupture creates his kind of bootleg
soundclash
on 3 turntables that many struggle to create in the studio. His DJ sets
reveal the points
of confluence between ragga, ambient, jungle hip-hop and North African music
at the same
time as keeping both feet firmly planted on the dancefloor...just as a track
begins to
dissolve into a writhing wall of noise /rupture will throw in a vocal lick or
