    Lads

Have Win2k professional here at work. Cannot run PWS then.
IT will not give me IIS as I am not developing web based..bla bla.

So I need an alternative as there is no where to download IIS and I have given up!

So is there an alternative, FREE!, web server out there, tried a few but they will not host ASP pages which I want to run!

    Thanks in advance

Win2k comes with IIS. Just get your installation disc out and go to add ons......

You shouldnt have any problems running it.

Thats not a reason. Win2k professional comes with IIS, but it just doesnt allow you have multiple "websites". You can only have one website with as many virtual servers as you like. There should be no reasons why you can't install it.

I'm guessing GS reckons that the admin has locked down the machine, as had I. That true yop? Can you install other software? Can you install system level stuff (as administrator)?

    Ah sorry!

IT as in "information technology" as opposed to "it".... sorry guys.

Well, as I asked in my first question what language would you like to use for developing your asp?

There is Apache asp, which you can only use perl with.

There may be a few old versions of Chilisoft lying around on kazaa or somthing. The first releases were free i think.

I was hitting my head against the wall before I saw the last 2 post!! :D

Asked them as in IT and the flutes will not give it to me.

I want to be able to develop ASP pages and host them on this webserver.

brinkster is fine but it is not local.

Just saw a reference to a web server that claims to do ASP pages on http://www.pablovandermeer.nl/downloads.html called "Baby Web Server 1.5".
    Seems to be freeware.

Apache::ASP seems to be a kind of halfway house. I haven't had a proper look, but Apache pwns, so it'd be nice to use it I suppose :)

    or
(nasty alternative solution, that most likely won't do what you need and certainly not how you need it...) asp2php - convert ASP to php...
