at the end of the rte 6 o'clock news they said lisdoonvarna has been cancelled because of an insuffeciant road network.

went to www.lisdoonvarnafestival.com but they said nothing about it, went to a few other websites but they didnt say anythin either.

ffs, cant we even enjoy ourselves in this country......

I just read that Clare Co. Co. didn't give the festival organisers any planning permission for it because some locals complained about it. It also said that the organisers have no right to appeal. It looks like another shambles by the authorities of this poorly-run country. I would also imagine that it is the end of this years Lisdoonvarna.

    Hopefully not though.

Yeah, it was on the news this AM. Refused planning permission due to concerns about road access for the 8,000 cars that are expected. No leave to appeal unless Aikens opt for a judicial review. When asked about all the concerts up to 1983 he said that they were in a "different decade, century and millennium". Clever chaps down in Clare County Council.

Bottom line is that Lisdoonvarna seems to be off.

Small article in todays Irish Times quotes a statement from Aikens saying that "an alternate venue will be announced in the next 72 hours". Might not be off after all - is that being overly optimistic?

The roads cant handle 8,000 people,
ffs Slane is just as backward and has just as bad a road system and its gonna be getting 20 times that many people going to it.
