How to make your own movies in game.

    This should apply to any game. If people have commands to help post them for your game.


    1. get FRAPS. http://www.fraps.com/ (free)

    This allows you to record 640x480x32 to an uncompressed AVI.

    2. get Virtual Dub. (free) http://www.virtualdub.org/
    This allows you to edit the movie, and change the gamma (some graphics cards won't fix the gamma when recording). It will also let you save out in different formats.

    3. get DivX http://www.divx.com (Free but get the commercial one as it has better compression options.. and adware is evil).

    This will allow you to compress the movie into a size that is downloadable.

    Some suggestions for making movies in Neocron.

    1. For Fraps make sure you change to 640x480x32.

    2. When recording it may feel like your lagged or the screen is choppy but what fraps does is drop frames to record better. The movie will look fine, and the game will still be playable (at least on 56k modem it is).

    3. Some commands.

    Type in the following commands into your RPOS (chat window).

    +sms a /set ctrl_renderhud 0
    +sms b /set ctrl_renderhud 1

    Now to disable the hud you type in..

    /sms a

    Remember to press tab after pressing enter so you can walk around. To switch the hud back on press TAB and type...

    /sms b

    If your hud doesn't appear you probably did it wrong, and just try again. If you tried everything and it still isn't coming back just relog, you can then check the command.

    Other camera commands you can find by pressing ALT-E (external/first person view toggle). It will write out three commands that affect where you camera is set in external mode. Play with the numbers to move the camera around.

    nifty software, i just tried it to record some Ragnarok Online. the only major drawback being the lack of sound recording. everything else is good.

    make sure you have plenty of free hard drive space since the uncompressed movies can take about 1gig per 1 minute of footage.
