    quite impressed there!!

    never looked at PC Kits.

How technically minded would you have to be to assemble that?

im pretty confident installing hardware and software, but ive never messed round with jumpers and stuff like that.

would you reckon it comes with basic instructions?

id love to build my own PC, ive upgraded my own enough times now to feel ok about it.

im working in IT so it would eb fairly embarrassing not to be able to :D

oh yeah almost forgot... which of the following would be the best in your opinion, and why?

also what upgrades would you reccomend???

    3 komplett PC kits

    thanks guys!:p

The last one looks better but maybe the CPU is getting on now... I have a 2100XP i got last year! Same case. The rest seems better value for money. God video card etc

As for putting together? Ever used Lego? Same thing.. just be careful especially with AMD's Burn out easy if you dont do it right!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,892 ✭✭✭bizmark

why not foget the kits and get
AMD Athlon XP2500+ 1.833 GHz 333 MHz bus
Socket A (Barton) processor, 512kb BOXED
    EUR_111.20

Asus A7N8X mainboard for Socket A
    nForce2SPP/MCP/Ultra 400,ATX,USB2.0,LAN
    EUR_115.87

    Corsair SDRAM PC133 512MB ECC/REG CL3
    64Mx72, 32Mx8 DRAMs "Low Profile"
    EUR_105.30

    Chieftec Dragon Aluminium, Tower, w/Door
Case w/340W power P4/AMD, Silver, (UK)
    EUR_141.44

    Asus V9520 GeForce FX 5200 128MB DDR
    AGP, Tv-Out/DVI-I, Retail.
    EUR_130.61

Hmm iv been thinking of putting a PC together now for sometime this has actually propted me into doing it perhaps.

I really like bismarks suggestion sounds like a demon machine. Although I reall like those new Box mother boards anyone know that they are like ?

Bizmark whats the story with the SDRAM no DDR?

That would be fine about 2 years ago but a gaming machine now would require something a bit faster.
That's PC133 MHz with a Cas Latency of 3ns (at least I think it's nano secs!)
Today you want to aiming at PC333 or 400 MHz with a Cas Latency of 2.5 at the highest,

    Like this,
    Corsair Value S. PC2700 DDR-DIMM 512MB
    - Unbuffered, Non-parity, 64Megx64, CL2.5
    €73.90

    Or This

    TwinMOS PC2700 DDR-DIMM 512MB CL2
    - Memory184-P (for DDR-PC333MHz)
    €81.48

Notice how both are cheaper than your SD RAM.
DDR is the way to go! :)

Hardly man. That is not a demon pc anymore...everything is going so fast. Last i heard, you need a gigabyte of fast ddr ram to play Doom III. See what i mean?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 118 ✭✭xen

But at what point 50cent are you gonna stop trying to be the fatest ever day something quicker, better more expensive the machine they are talking is very solid and a goooooooood price!!!

em doubt it does come with instructions, but it's easy enough, it's like putting a ..... well a computer together. hehe. Things more or less plug into each other. You have IDE cables which connect into the hard drive and cdrom drives etc... i'd say you have to screw the parts in to the case. em... i can write an entire discription for you if ihave the time. or you can google it :) you should be able to do it no prob. just watch out for static! hehe

whoops sorry lads got the ram wrong :( your total right that ram is rubbish (should have looked at the specs)

yep 1 gig or ram WOULD be nice but the guy has a round 800 euro and it would be pritty costly if your looking for 1 gig what about this 1024Mb Corsair XMS3500 CAS-2.0 memory (Dual DDR Mode) (2 x 512Mb) not sure how much but you can bet its not cheap

the 2500xp barton would be a perfect game platform trust me the 3000xp or 3 gig pentium will be a awful wast of money as your not getting the same bang for you buck as you would with a 2500 xp

    the most important thing
for a guy with 800-1000 is a great motherboard (good upgradeablity) good grapics card ram and a good cpu your never going to be able to buy a balls on games pc (2100 euro for a alienwere area 51)

50 cent makes a point what i suggested isnt top of the line its around 6 months old (or more) but even the amazeing DOOM 3 wont be complaning with a system like that and at around 500-600 euro its not bad at all

sorry about the ram mistake im not a expert just a fan of pc,s
    :)

Er ... I know those processors are great overclockers ... but is the original poster going to / want to start fiddling with switches / jumpers / bios tweaks? ... normally when someone asks me about making a pc for themselves I try and ascertain their technical ability and usually wind up pointing them at dell for a ready made machine

I put together something which should be a great performer:

    116244 AMD Athlon XP2500+ 1.833 GHz 333 MHz bus

    117577 MSI K7N2 DELTA-L mainboard Socket A DDR
    - nForce2SPP/MCP2/Ultra 400,ATX,ATA133,LAN 99

    (*2) 109628 DDR-DIMM PC2700 512MB DDR CL2.5
    - Generic memory 184-P (for DDR-PC333MHz)

    115047 Gainward AGP GeForce4 Ti4800SE 64MB DDR
    - "Ultra/750-8X TV", Retail

    111122 Western Digital Caviar 80GB IDE 7200RPM
    - Special Edition 8MB cache WD800JB

115392 Sky Hawk PSR5601 Miditower, Silver
    - Aluminium case, without power supply

    112087 Q-Tec PSU ATX 550W Dual Fan
    - PSU for PIII/AMD/P4 CPUs

117894 Cooler Master AERO 7+ AMD
    - ASB-V73 til AMD XP3000+ CPU and Higher

    105603 LG CD Drive 52x (CRD-8522BB)

    Yo Dr4g, your missing something:

    Western Digital Raptor 36,7GB SATA
    10000Rpm 8MB cache WD360GD
    EUR 188.70

    - Fastest/best performing IDE HD in the retail market, though its supposed to be loud as hell. Would be usefull for putting the O/S and games on, as it only holds 30 odd gigs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,389 ✭✭✭✭Saruman

Doom 3 needs a gig of ram? Nice one im sorted in that dept then... and lads its not expensive... I went from 512 to 1 gig for €69 on Komplett! Not expensive at all. In other words...

    1 Pcs 109628 DDR-DIMM PC2700 512MB DDR CL2.5
    Generic memory 184-P (for DDR-PC333MHz) (2)
    D: 1 Pcs 2003-02-19 57 ex. VAT, 69 inc. VAT

Dont know what price is now.. maybe less?

Well Serial-ATA drives are quite a bit quieter than standard IDE drives (at 7200rpm)... don't think I'd go for one just yet though, give it two years and they'll have moved on and performance will be beyond the fastest ATA-133 drives... also the above would only be "the fastest/best performing" when coupled with a quality serial-ata controller card, as a lot of onboard controllers aren't up to scratch yet.

bizmark, more money doesn't always mean betterhardware.
swap the asus motherboard for this one Abit NF7-S V2.0, you can get it @komplett.ie for €122. Its a better board, if you dont believe me, thers always google.
And who was it building an intel machine? shame on you! I dont want to sound like an AMD whore, but quite simply, AMD rule. If you dont believe me (yes I am a lazy bastard I'm not explaining) google it:rolleyes:

So is everyone agreed on komplett beiing the best place? I asked that in the sticky thread, but got no replies. What about delivery? is that dear, Do they have a shop, or a place I can collect the stuff?

AFAIK they're based in Norway, so collecting it yourself might prove more expensive than letting DHL delivery it to you :)

I got my flatpanel monitor from them. Don't remember exactly how much the delivery was, but it wasn't too bad. Still worked out significantly cheaper than buying the monitor from anyone else.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 166,026 ✭✭✭✭LegacyUser

what the hell is AFAIK? and are you talking about komplett?

    Go to
    SharkyExtreme

They got the best gaming pc guides. Komplett have most of the stuff they suggest but if you get stuck then
    go to Overclockers

    Also Elara

I have recently found Elara on google. I have seen no mention of them on the boards but I'm sure there is. it has a lot of Antec stuff that seems to be hard to get anywhere else.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 999 ✭✭✭Raz

Elara have their own place on the boards here, go to
Community >>> Commercial Interaction >>> Elara Systems

Never heard much talk about them though.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,502 ✭✭✭MrPinK

    > hard drive 60gb 7200rpm maxtor €98 peats

Komplett have 80GB 7200rpm Maxtor's for €90. You should check everything you plan on getting from peats at komplett first. They're usually much, much cheaper.
