i have learned france so hopefully!?

Everyone is tipping plath. The logic behind it is that there are only 2 female on our course. PLath and Bishop

Bishop came up the last two years and they can't be sexist so PLath it is!!

well im goin wit 5 to be sure:
    Heaney
    WB Yeats

    -Heaney
    -Plath
    -Yeats
    -Mahon

tbh I need Heaney or Plath... a nice "write a personal response" question perhaps...

Hrm... how many poems by each are you doing?

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,330 ✭✭✭radiospan

    - Heaney
    - Yeats
    - Frost
    - (maybe Hopkins)

We didn't do Plath or Mahon in school, and they seem to be everyones tip.

I'm doing 7 or 8 Heaney poems and about the same for Yeats.

Picking her just because she is female is of coarse sexist against the men, I doubt the department has that logic.

    -mahon
    -heaney
    -Yeats
-Plath/Frost (not 2 sure about these ones)

  • Registered Users Posts: 601 ✭✭✭honeymonster

Does anyone have any sample answers to the poetry questions please?

The next cycle is always slow in June, so the department has to pick a woman, otherwise it will be called sexist.
    Why?
Thats the way thew orld works

    Im doing

    Yeats
    Heaney
    Frost
    Mahon
    Plath

Im doing 5 perfectly, after getting screwed in the mocks.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,169 ✭✭✭✭Sangre

You honestly think that they will be called sexist if they dont put a woman on the 2003 LC? She is on the course, isnt that enough?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,563 ✭✭✭sikes

Put it this way, i would be willing to put €100 on that plath will come up!!

    Regards

Sangre in the new course a chick has to come up every year:)
99%plath will come hopefully itll be a personal response..

  • Registered Users Posts: 20,617 ✭✭✭✭PHB

Look, the news cycle is really slowin the month of june.
The last thing the department wants is "ENGLISH PAPER WAS SEXIST" on the front of the sun.
    Capice?
Tis the way the world works im afriad.
[I wonder if I spelt that right]

    I'm doing;

    - Plath
    - Heaney
    - Frost
    - Hopkins

Not gonna get bogged down in it though, poetry is only 50 marks (10+%). You can get half those marks without any quotes, just waffle away.

Anyway, poetry is simple. No matter how many ways they twist it, you can only be asked one question on the day - Your understanding of the poem, and how you came to that understanding!

    Im doing:

    -Donne (wierd, noone picked him)
    -Mahon
    -Frost
    -Plath
    -Heany
    -Yeats (Never liked him)

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,169 ✭✭✭✭Sangre

Plath might come up, but not because she is a woman.
Bishop came up the last to years anyway.

Are any of you thinking straight? Can you imagine reading the papers.
'English paper was sexist becuase this year a woman didnt come up....(but one did the other years)!'
Pathetic, no one will ever print that, or agree with it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,563 ✭✭✭sikes

Think of the crap the tabloids print. I'd say they would def. mention it.

    Come on plath come up!!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,345 ✭✭✭Squall

    Plath
    Yeats
    Heaney
    Donne

And maybe one more, depends on how i feel :)

    STOP THIS NOW!!!

Does anyone realise how useless this has become? Every poet on the course has been mentioned. So, with this in mind let's announce the most popular, ie. most likely!

    1. Plath
    2. Heaney
    3. Frost
    4. Mahon

    Now there!

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,563 ✭✭✭sikes

yeah i think you are right

    Plath
    Heaney
    Mahon

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,543 ✭✭✭sionnach

Im staying away from heaney TOTALLY. I just think too many ppl answer on him. Hopkins and Yeats r my main men.... and i just dont like answering frost questions.........
