When exactly are we going to get the definitive broadband service here in Ireland? I can't think of any bb isp that has everything going for it. Just think about it:

    Eircom i-stream:
    Tiny cap, still interleaved.

    Netsource radsl:
    High latency, crappy dowloads. Awful.

    Netsource/Eircom business:
    Interleaving set at full whack

    IOL bb:
Doesn't seem to be all that available, tiny cap.

    Esat business:
Barely available, ambiguity as to whether theres a cap or not.

    IBB:
Not available for the most part. Extremely patchy performance.

    NTL:
Little to no chance of it ever being widely available.

Come on, when the hell are we going to get the Irish version of Nildram? Hopefully I'll be moving to England in a few years but still, it'd be nice to have a service that was finally the be all and end all.

    What is Nildram?
I thought NTL was the big one in UK

nildram is a uk based isp, they deal with adsl and they deal very well with it, good prices, good speeds, reasonable caps :)

I'm still willing to give Netsource a chance, If they get the extra capacity and it improves things I'll be happy, otherwise it'll be bye bye!

    **** Nildram are good.

I would stay well away from netsource unless they drastically improve.I get better pings on 56k.:ninja:

I think a 30gb cap would be perfect. It'd stop the warez people but leave more than enough space for your average joe. If Eircom would just increase their cap I'd move over to them.

ya agree with sloth there a 30GB cap would be perfectly acceptable but a lower per MB cost if you do go over the cap.:ninja:

    30gig?

nildram do 150gig a month, and there is no degradation for anyone on the service, for games like cs it pings amazingly, its just the ideal broadband service, along with NTL, or a swedish home 10mbit line for €35 a month :o

Yeah I know nildram do 150 but this is Ireland we just have to be a bit more realistic. I think a killer package here would be:

    €50 a month
    512/256
    no interleaving
    30gb cap
contention doesn't matter because if Nildram can run fine with 50:1 then it shouldn't matter one jot.

Dont suppose there is any chance Nildram will come to Ireland?

    Barra.
Are you still interested in Amocom with their 5GB cap and high expense?
Looking at other wireless ISP in Ireland with much better prices and no caps I dont think Ill be going for them myself, might just wait for Eircom or IOL.
