No need to go into detail, just the main headings of the essay...

I don't know if everyone uses 8 paragraphs, but i do! including intro and conclusion!

hey just to tell you shane at the start of my Educational Co. papers it says they stop correcting after 6 paras, inc. op & cl, so i do 4 main points, bout half a page each.

soz no idea bout KHRBK, didnt it come up last year though?

    I seriously doubt that...
The essays are supposed to be varied etc...
4 paragraphs in the middle is hardly any tbh

thats a load of bolox pea... the way the essays are marked is each paragraph is give a mark out of 12, no matter how many you write. they do that up to 60 marks (if your essay is absolutly perfect, you would have 5 paragraphs at 12 marks each, but thats impossible)

the other 20 marks are given based on an overview of essay, mainly did you answer the question correctly. if you have dealt with everything that needs to be dealt with and you have a reasonably detailed answer you should get 17-20 in this, dont worry about it too much tho most people get at least 10 marks for this unless theyre completely off topic!

the best way to score high in essays is to write LOADS of paragraphs, not too small tho. take the essays the essays you have now and wherever you see a possible break in it break it! split your big paragraphs in half and instead of getting just a 10 or 12 your getting two 6's, 7's or 8's!

    tis the best way tbh.....

as for killing HR with kindness....im not touching Unionism cause i think its too complicated.....

so if i just wrote 60 paras and got one mark for each they'd still correct it all and i get my 60%

If you have a relevant opening and conclusion, and four episodes/aspects/arguments, thats enough according to ed com*

*Thats the Educational Company, not a russian socialist called Edward

Yeah! I seriously doubt it! I have an excellent teacher who know's her stuff! Anyway, I'm able to do the 8 paragraphs in every topic now, just can't find my sheet on it!

As for unionism, completely underestimated - v easy topic! and a dead cert (allegedly)!!!

Em, I've always had my paragraphs corrected out of 10?
I'm fairly sure, as in everyone else i know doing history, gets the same.

And yeah its enough to do an opening, closing, and 4 inbetween, but then to get an A1 you need 9 out of each paragraph with 18 in the overall.

You can do as many paragraphs as you want, infact personally i do about 12 short ones :)

so do you ppl do like a point per para or....?
like eg. im doing inter-party, one para would be....em....jayz i need to study

nah seriously one para would be like "economic succeses (sic)" and would include semi-state bodies, the trade agreements, etc etc, yeah?
    what do ye do?

After last years walk in the park I think this years paper is going to be mega mega hard, hence studying 5 topics per section :(

I think the Hitler/Mussolini question is going to be horrible, the same with the Dev question.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,835 ✭✭✭StickyMcGinty

    no way!!

5 topics per section is madness i tell you, madness!

the worst you can do is get 60/60 for info and loose round 10 on the structure marks!!

I have to get an A1 in history so i dont want to go into the exam and realise that OMFG i cant do an essay in section A!!!!

nah thats too much to learn, about 40 foolscaps a question!! on the first question learn Parnell, Gladstone/Griffith and Constructive Unionism and you'll be hunky dory...

in B learn Lemass, anglo irish foreign policies and economic policies and twill be grand

in c learn the Tsars, Eastern Question, Bismarck

in D learn Hitlers foreign policy, The cold war and Hitler/Stalin

    and e is easy!!

    any more suggestion??

5 Topics per section is grand as long as it's not a specific essay, i.e.,

    Section C:

    1. Bismarck (Domestic, Foreign, Domestic & Foreign)
    2. France (Domestic, Domestic & Foreign)
    3. Imperialism (General Essay, How it Impacted on European Relations)

Three topics here that you can get 7 essays out of! See?

AND STILL NO ESSAY PLAN!!! Someone please put it up?

Lets see what I've got covered :)

    Irish Early :

    Butt
    Parnell
    Redmond
    Land League
    Gladstone
    Davitt
    Cultural nationalism

    Irish late :

    Cuman na nGeadheal
    Dev 32-39
    Dev - The war years
    Inter Party governments

    Europeon Early :

    France
    Bismark + Wilheim II[Anglo German]
    Church-State
    Eastern Question
    Weimar

    Later Europeon :

    Versailles
    Mussolini
    Hitler
    Cold War
    Europeon Unity

    I'd love a Gladstone/Butt, CnG/Inter Party, Weimar/France, Cold War/Europeon Unity paper :)
Since I get pretty much full marks in any essay I do on these people

    Shane,

    there's a constructive unionism essay at http://www.geocities.com/athlonelaura/constructiveunionism.html

Doesn't have eight paragraphs but seems to give a good idea for a plan.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,835 ✭✭✭StickyMcGinty

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 382 ✭✭Shane
