The Blind Kids in Wheelchairs Global Funk Orchestra - "Hey You, Get That Banana Outta There!"

    mind-blowing

Yield was under-rated? i wasnt aware.
those that rate it seem to rate it fair enough. its not brilliant, they have better.

Yeah definitely Whipping Boy's Heartworm I had a bootlegged cassete of it back in the nineties and it worn out through over use so i picked up a cd copy on ebay just last week. I know they've split up and when they did they apparently nearly bankrupt Sony Ireland. What are the individual members up to now?

60ft Dolls - The Big Three

    'Love your haaaaaaaair'
    'everywheeeeeeeeeeere'
    'it follows you around'

Newports finest, apart from the Manics

C'mon people. How can you call all these albums underrated. Pretty much every album being listed here are considered classics.
    Bit more effort!

Kerb dog - On the turn.

Greatly under-rated album and possibly a very un lucky band. Wilt never lived up to anything in my opinion.

Pelvis as well had great debut.

Among indie muso types maybe but the general public probably havent heard of the vast majority of the bands and albums listed which is a great pity.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 248 ✭✭Achille

yeah but if you mention Led Zeppelin to half the general public, their answer is "who's he?"

i dont think that makes them under-rated.

i'll recommend Wheat's "Hope and Adams", and "Wormwood" by moe.

i forgot the biggest one of all
    new adventures in hi-fi-r.e.m.
its pure class but everyone thought it was crap when i came out.
i think yield is an excellent album and is reffered to as pearl jams weakest album but in my opinion its in their top four.

    Steps - Steptacular

Whipping Boy's Heartworm + CDs by The Frank And Walters. "Trains, Boats & Planes", "Grand Perdae", "Glass" and the perfect "Beauty Becomes More than life".

Does anybody have any news of the release date of their new cd?

    Jeff Buckley -- Grace.

Seems to be more popular now, & immediately following his death, than it was when he was alive. Still under-rated, though.

    James - "Laid"

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,267 ✭✭✭p.pete

    RHCP - One hot minute

Might not have been there best album but it's widely regarded as their worst which I always thought unfair, I liked it.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 640 ✭✭✭knobbles

    my interpretation of under rated:

    pixies - trompe le monde
    pumpkins - adore

...regarded by many and the bands themselves has failures,
    i think they're their best

Any Sophie B Hawkins album.. especially Timbre

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,601 ✭✭✭Kali

id agree with sebadoh - bakesale.. bloody excellent album and criminally under-rated, possibly down to the slightly poor production, but rocking all the same..

    I'd add:

    Slowdive - Souvlaki
    Ride - Nowhere
    Corduroy - High Havoc
    Galaxie 500 - On Fire

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,105 ✭✭✭Tyrrial

    I'd say:

The Smashing Pumpkins - Adore (a bloody great album!)

The Reindeer Section - Son of Evil Reindeer (way to under-rated)

Belle and Sebsatian - Tigermilk (The warmest Music ever written)

    and that's my two cent

since someone got there before me with Steptacular and Songs for Polarbears, I'll go with Hope is important by Idlewild. WAAAAHHH!!!!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 237 ✭✭Saint-dotsie

    couple more addititions-
    adore-pumpkins
    tiny music- stone temple pilots
    mansun-six

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 72 ✭✭Daylight

Built to Spill - Keep it like a secret
Kyuss - Blues for the Red Sun
Death Cab for Cutie - We Have the Facts and We're Voting Yes

This could keep going for a while

If I was to include a Smashing Pumpkins album, it would have to be Gish. They only really became mainstream popular after this (circa Siamese Dream\Meloncollie) but Gish is easily their best album.

Nice to see Slowdive mentioned. I'd add "Just for a Day" in there as well.

Anything by Godspeed You Black Emperor really (Slow Riot..., F#A#..., )
First Lamb album is quite good also, doesnt seem to get much attention either.

And for a change of pace, NIN: The Downward Spiral
