i won (!) a panasonic gd87 from a newspaper, it came sim free but set up (i think, it may just be my simcard) for o2. it says o2 ireland on the box.

when i try to send an mms or download anything, i get "gprs unavailable"

ive tried searching the forums and cant get it to search o2 or mms so anyone got any idea how i can set up a panasonic gd87's gprs for o2 speakeasy?

 - good to hear people win these competitions - never happens to me :( !!

sounds like you need to get your account (sim card) set-up for GPRS access (on the network side) - you'd need to contact O2.ie support (not just regular customer care) to get this set-up / checked out

O2.ie support contact details are at the bottom of this page:
    http://www1.o2.ie/customer_care/contact_us

they should also help you get the phone configs working if they aren't already in there - if not post back and some of us here should be able to help out then

i've emailed o2.ie and im taking te thing into an o2 dealer today.

i know, i never win anything, but i must have been the only person to enter. they said iwas getting a nokia camera fone  but this isnt that bad, except i cant view pictures without a little blue menu thing going along the bottom... i can only see around 75% of the picture without scrolling down.

oh and a little aside, is there any way of turning off the click-click noise when you take a picture? it happens even if you've all sounds turned off and key tones off.

*i think* (but im probably wrong) that the click noise has to stay for "security" reasons. I know that on my friends GX10, even on silent it still clicks. My theory is so that people know that you are taking a picture of them, otherwise you could be taking pictures of anyone/anything *cough*Paedophilia*cough*

you should be able to change the picture size when you are taking them. Again, on my friends GX10 you can pick a small, medium and large picture size.

spot on TimAy - the click noise is to ensure that pictures can't be taken secretly- and it's on the handsets that come from the Asian manufacturers

the European (based) manufacturers haven't yet implemented this though - so the likes of the Nokia 7650 and Sony Ericsson P800 don't make a sound if their silent option is turned on and the camera is used
