Here is a link to a web site of my old home ground, Mugendo Kickboxing.

I did alot of training under George Canning for years. In fact he brought kickboxing to ireland.

Back 20 years ago, this probably was one of the most progressive training places in Ireland in the 1980s. (sure things have moved on in time).

I did alot of sparring here.

George still teaches in Dublin, was on the phone to him just yesterday.

I guess this is a little bit of Irish martial arts history, and I wanted to share with everyone!

I too was a student under George Canning and his sons many years ago...
I still recall the time George Canning jnr kicked me in the head and I went smack head-first into a fireplace!

But apart from that it was all good fun!:D

LOL! :p Thats our George Jnr for you...he is a great friend of mine.

Thats must have been up in the full time kickboxing gym they had on Doyles Corner in Phibsboro years back?

Where else would you get to spar with a 7 year undefeated former World Champion in Kickboxing.

I've seen plent of stars spinning around my head in those sparring session too.

George Snr is still going strong and him near 70. still has the odd spar too!

    How is George jnr then?

I remember the flashy cars and the George Michael stubble & shades...

The reason I went flying in the fireplace was due to the fact that I swept his leg from under and he lost balance...I was 16 at the time! not bad...

He then did a jump&spinning back kick and caught me unawares...
As a club we did the odd excursion... like goinig to see karate kid 1.

Do you remember kenneth molloy? He did kickboxing by day and ice ballet at night...

Last time I heard, the OP was banned from this forum so probably pointless asking him questions.

Nah, that was only a slap on the wrist. I think colm said it was for 2 days or something like that. He's just too busy for us mere non-millionaires these days.

Must admit, I thought he was back too when I saw his name beside the thread.

COME BACK GERRY! ALL IS FORGIVEN!

Dude, this thread was started ten years ago, the last post before yours was eight years ago, and at least three of the posters, including the op, no longer post here.

Having said all that, heres a link to the mugendo facebook page. They might be able to help
