What did people talk about before 'what series are you watching?'

Seems to be all everyone ever talks about is things, rather than personal situations, what happened to good old fashioned observational conversations? People just live vicariously through whatever the latest big Netflix show is.

Perhaps in your circle, not mine nor my kids' circle of friends either, as they are here and I asked them.

I don't know what this Netflix thing is you are talking about. But I heard Mikey Flannigans boy Eddie has been courtin' Frank Dennings daughter Annie. She has a few acres coming to her too.

Have you though about finding more interesting people to converse with?

So long as it's nothing to do with unfunny English comedian Micky Flanagan. He probably doesn't even have a stand-up show on Netflix!

    (Maybe he does...)

No, you are thinking of Derek and Josie's boy. I heard he's a bit, yano... Well he never married anyway. Terrible shame. I heard Derek's brother Dessies son is in line for the farm. Mickey Flannigan is off up to Dublin, no interest in the land. Josie doesn't know where she got him from, beside herself she is!

I remember working in a place where football both homegrown and foreign was talked about at every break every day.
It was like having the dentist slowly describe root canal without anaesthesia day after day :(

It's not something I'd talk with my friends as none of my close friends would be into series on Netflix. We talk about other stuff. Judging other people, new clothes, ordering online vs buying in shops, makeup brushes, other people's Facebook statuses, etc etc. I could spend the day with them talking nonsense and can't think of much of what we talk about now that I think about it

    They didn't talk about anything.

They just lit the fire, made the tay and sighed contentedly to themselves.

I'd rather hear people discuss interesting TV series instead of the usual rigmarole of football (soccer) which consists of the same in depth analysis of overpaid players kicking an inflated bit of leather year in year out.

We talked about 'Home and Away' because there were only a handful of channels and everybody watched that.
