This might be a bit of a long shot, but is there anyone in Dublin that would be generous enough give the lend of a Nikon telephoto lens for Friday? I have managed to get a press credential for an upcoming sports event on Friday evening, but the longest focal length I have is 120mm. If anyone would be willing to let me use their lens for that evening please send me a PM. I'm more than happy to come to some sort of an arrangement regarding a deposit. I am living in Ballsbridge, but can travel anywhere around dublin.

    Thanks,
    DM

Can't help, since I shoot Canon, but I believe that Conns camera also do lens rentals, if you don't find a willing helper.

Berminghams also do rentals, 70-200 is 100 for a day (125 for 3 days). It is not listed on their site but I was sure they also rented out bigger lenses.

In that case, if prices are equal, I'd go with Birminghams.

Thanks guys, appreciate the help. Will reach out to Birmingham's tomorrow. Still open to any offers by PM :-)

I would opt for the rental over borrowing a lens from a stranger.

If it were using gear from a well known friend it would be different but there is too much that could go wrong.

While I have lent gear to friends I always make sure that it's understood that if it gets bent then consider it sold.

yeah, you won't find anyone tripping over themselves to lend lenses to someone they don't know from adam.
the only deposit most people would give much consideration to is one near the replacement cost of the lens.

I was wondering how you got on, do Birmingham’s (or others) rent out big glass. How are they price wise?
