Minister Harris last week has opened the doors for trials to help people with 3 specified illnesses, anyone else that uses cannabis will remain a criminal.

Speaking as a Man who lives with a woman, it would make me very happy if we didn't have to go through the rough part every month but the happier mrs monkey is going through it the happier I am.

In the states there's two cannabis products getting great feedback for period pain and with some pleasant side effects.

http://foriapleasure.com/products/relief-4-pack and Whoppi has even launched a range of them https://www.merryjane.com/news/whoopi-goldberg-launches-female-friendly-cannabis-line

I'm wondering why the women of Ireland aren't kicking up and demanding access to turn the pain into pleasure every month.

So what gives ladies why aren't you up in arms?

I really don't need ridiculous excuses to get stoned.

I think cannabis should be legalised either why dont think you need period pain as an excuse to get it...Saying that then, doctors should be able to hand it out as such if they see fit to..

I'm not sure why we should be up in arms about this. Not all of us have period pain and not everyone who does wants or needs cannabis to cope with it and as Meeeh says who really needs an excuse to get stoned anyway. :)

I don't think either of those products would necessarily get you stoned. They just use ingredients derived from marijuana to make medicinal products. The Merryjane line includes a topically applied cream, so hardly going to get anyone buzzing. Marijuana has proven medical value and if there are claims it works in more ways than we currently know about then that should be tested and licensed. If period pain is very bad though, sufferers should be going to see their doctor as very bad period pain isn't the norm but rather often a symptom of an illness like endometriosis.

Women in this country get so little respect when it comes to do with anything to do with our reproductive organs that it's unlikely that this would ever be considered a possibility.

Women with gynecological problems have to jump so many hoops to access treatments available in other countries freely or in some cases struggle to be taken seriously.
