    Hi all
and thanks in advance for any advice.
    I have a Pajero Sport 2007

Ive blown and replaced the head and gasket twice before and now have a engine heat sensor installed to allert me of any overheating problems.

Ive noticed some oil in the water recently however

    1. its not creamy,
    2. jeep is not overheating
    3, No change in performance
    4. oil looks grand (although dropping slightly)

just wondering is there anywhere else that oil can get into water apart from the head
or is it still picking up oil from when it blew????
    What ye reckon
    cheers

    It could leak.
But it really all depends on how much oil is in the water was it all flushed out ?? Its very hard to get every drop of oil out if it was mixing before.
Could the block be cracked if the gasket has been done twice or why was it done twice ??

when an engine is up to temperature the cooling system is under pressure so if you have a leak it will typically be coolant in the oil. the only way to get oil into the coolant is if you have a crack in a high pressure oil passage (after the oil pump) highly unlikely, and even then you'd probably see a drop in oil pressure
replaced a head gasket twice? typical mitsubishi garbage, sell or trade it

It's air cooled on this model, don't be confusing things.

The oil cooler is a radiator that is air cooled.

Yes it has an oil cooler , I'll check that. Cheers
Someone told me that the oil and the water meet in the turbo as well?

The head blew twice from running out of coolant the first time (my bad) and not having the clips tightened on the water pipes to the engine the second time , these jeeps are great but should come with an overheating alarm.

Why would you need to check the oil cooler, there is no exchange possible there. Talk about confusion now.
Turbo is very very unlikely, what brand head did you use and what kind of head gasket did you use.

What are you saying - that some gaskets dont work that some heads dont work???
I dont think i can find the brand names now.

Gasket was metal and new, head was factory reconditioned.

wouldnt the oil be creamy if it was coming through the head?

theres no water in the oil ??

ok i get it - there is no water going through the oil cooler right???

Did you get head pressure tested?

Yep, ignore above by other poster.

No it was from a professional engine supplier????
    certified, tested etc .

Any idea what might be going on??

There are oil coolers and there are oil intercoolers!

Oil coolers are generally a type of radiator and there is no coolant nearby to mix with the oil.

Intercoolers are often fitted to near the rear of the oil filter. Both oil and coolant pass through them. In a warm-up situation the coolant warms up quicker than the oil so heat from the coolant is transferred to the oil. During hot operating conditions the oil becomes hot and the excess heat is transferred to the coolant to be shed via the radiator.

They have been known to fail and allow oil and coolant to mix.

Here we go again, how are they know to fail when they do not exist in this model?

Are you trolling or what, I'm giving you information and help and then this.

    Easy lads!

And thanks for all the replies.
as far as i know there is an oil cooler(down beside the rad.) and an intercooler (if thats the one that sits on top of the engine)

the oil cooler has no connection with the water.
ill keep a close eye on the oil level and flush the system,
and post when i get to the bottom of this.
    cheers

The inter cooler just cools the boosted air, don't forget there is an egr cooler also but this is water cooling egr exhaust gas. Again no connection possible for oil to water but no harm in mentioning all the coolers on the 2.5 4d56 model.

I'm certainly not trolling. I've been a member of this forum for twelve years and I don't think I've been accused of that before. (apart from a skirmish with the guys over on the legal forum, but that's OK, they argue for a living)
