They are a sh1tbox though and aren't really worth anything in the condition he got it in.

We are too spoilt these days with the sheer amount of cars available. Tons of early 2000's astras around, worth almost nothing, hapes of sh1te but still perfectly drivable. In times of yore these cars wouldn't have gone to waste, would be crammed full of youngsters going off gallivanting but now the youngsters can't even get insurance

I'd say they could stop producing cars for about 10 years before a real serious shortage of cars would arise

The purchase price was but if it turned out to be a non runner the price could of been a lot more and that is before any repair is taken into consideration.

    I purchased once car unseen.
Only because price was good, but it wasn't 3 pounds, rather €1k.
I thought it was a risk, but still decided to go for it.

Seller was boards.ie member though, and he offered to deliver the car to my parents garage which is 2500km away from Ireland.

Car turned up to be very good when I seen it 2 months later.

If it turned out to be a non runner you scrap it. Worse case scenario, it cost you 3 pounds.
You'd need your head examined of you were to spend money on repairs if it didn't run

Towing charges and disposal charges will cost more than 3 pounds

His intention was to use it for parts anyway. so Win/Win for him.
