I was in the new central criminal court this morning and noticed the lifts only go to floors two four and six. Anyone know why this is?

Are those the only floors with public access?

That is the public lifts, the courts are on Grounf Floor, 2nd floor 4th floor and 6th floor access to for example the 7th floor is via the rear entrance and other non public entrances which only allows access to card holders.

Is this new? I've never had any issues accessing any of the floors from the main atrium including the lobby of the Law Library. I've never taken note of the floor numbers right enough.

The lifts only have buttons for 0 2 4 6. If you had never been in non public areas you would have no ideas that there are other floors. For example floor 7 only accessible from non public access.

When doing jury service, you are escorted through private corridors / stairs / lifts, that seem to serve every floor.

Theres a few reasons but the main one would be for Logistics of "Suspects/Defendants" and also the housing of them.

The design of the building is such that you'd see the non-accessible floors and the courts seem to be 'double height' as it were so I'm just trying to wrap my head round where these floors are!

Note the way that the jury entrances and judges' entrances are at a higher level than the public / custody entrances. The floors might not actually be all that big - just a foyer for lift, stairs, jury deliberation room and toilets on one side and judges' chambers on the other.

They thought it would be a bit odd to have 1,3,5,7

That's a prime example of the kind of dad joke that floors most people.

Even if they did it the other way, people would complain.
