    Hi everyone

Myself and my wife both mid 40s are looking at Bulgaria in September. Prices and hotels look good. We like hot weather sightseeing and relaxing. Nightlife outside of restaurants not important. We love Greece and are going in June and have been pretty much to all the sun resorts in Europe other than Bulgaria. We had heard conflicting reports about it. Any info appreciated.

    Thanks

we went to sunny beach last September 3 - 14 and i would highly recommend, its nice and quiet at that time of the season, the sun is shining and things are cheaper as the season ends the end of sept. stayed in the iberostar sunny beach resort and couldn't recommend it enough, great location and lovely food etc. we enjoyed it so much we are going back again this year!

Have been there a couple of times. Liked it anyway. Will give it a try again sometime. Cheap drinks and food.

Hookers and drug dealers everywhere. The only place where I felt unsafe on a sun holiday.

    Very corrupt place.

Saw a documentary by Stacey Dooley on SB this week. It was horrific..a far cry from what it was 20 years ago when I was there.

My sister has an apartment in sb and go there every year for the past ten years and love it and has never had any problem. They would go to restuarants and pubs, would not be into night clubs so maybe that's where the problem is. She is going on wednesday for 4 weeks with her family and they can't wait.

I was there 8 or 9 years ago and enjoyed it. The beaches are lovely and there is a long promenade with restuarants and shops. lots to do.
Tourism is very important to them.

There are drugs and hookers in every city if you know where to look. I have never heard my sister mention this problem.

Ya Stacy had a documentary on Magaluf she stood in front of the camera with her mouth open stunned at people pissed at 12pm in the day. I am surely that women can't get anymore cringe.

Corrupt, hookers and sleaze. Apart from that it's underdeveloped. Think lanzarote 25 years ago. That's where it's at

Think prices in Spain 25 years ago. ;)

Think Spain with no hookers approaching you :)

In the very south, there is the village Sinemorets, was there years ago and I really liked it. I just know they built a few resorts close to it now, no clue how it is since then.
Anyway, I've been to Bulgaria a couple of times and I much prefer the countryside itself than the seaside. It's cheap to get around and people in general are zen. And Sofia is my secret city crush.

Hi hallo, you can order money here through the credit union but the rate isn't great.

If you use Atm 's there may be a charge to use it but there will also be a charge from the irish banks also so it all adds up.

Personally I use the crown exchange booths and only them. They usually go at 1.90 to 1.92 in the booths.

That's what I did last year and I plan to do the same come this Friday when I can finally get sunshine!

    1.90 is daylight robbery.

Not as bad as getting less than 1.85!

I ordered through the CU with Fexco, thought I was doing well when I saw "no commission" but hadn't copped the rate....

Great - thank you all for the tips! we will use the crown booths so when we get there, next Friday! Thansk again :)

The closest you'll get to an Irish pub is maybe a shamrock beside the name outside
