    Hi everybody..

My partner and I have our notification meeting at the Registry office next month. So today I decided to look through the checklist to make sure there'll be no last minute rushing around.
I came across where they say you must have the name of a registered solemniser. Now I looked it up and found the two names of the ladies in Kerry but I'm just wondering do I need to contact them separately before the meeting or is that done after the meeting?
Really confused and really want to make sure we have everything in order beforehand.
    Thanks in advance xxx

You are supposed to have organised your solomniser before you have the meeting.

Do you know if either of them are free?

    Ok thank you so much.
Sorry now I'm completely clueless about this.
If I ring the registry office do I just say were getting married on this date and wondering about a solemniser?

    Thank you!

The registry office aren't going to organise a solemiser for you unless you are getting married in the registry office. What kind of ceremony are you having?

We are planning a civil ceremony in a hotel.

We are planning a civil ceremony in a hotel.

Currently you don't have a legal ceremony booked, you have to book this, solemnisers book up extremely quickly

If you are having a civil ceremony (with a HSE solemniser) you likely don't need their name before your initial appointment. We didn't in Dublin anyway. If you've already booked your ceremony with them they'll have that information to hand as it will be based on their own staff rotas. If you haven't booked it yet then you might be able to do that at your initial appointment but probably best to ring and ask. I'm actually pretty sure we had a different person on the day to the name we were given initially anyway so I wouldn't stress too much. Obviously if you're arranging your own celebrant it's a different story.

Edited: just saw your update, definitely get your booking sorted ASAP f your not having it at the registry office as the appointments for external ceremonies are more limited

I'll give them a ring first thing so, thank you!

We got married in a hotel last year and did not need the name of a solemniser. When we showed up to the booking appointment, they assigned one to us and that was that!

Wait a while, are you looking to have someone for the registry office do the wedding or are you looking for lets say a Celtic priest or someone not working for the reg office?

If you are looking for someone from the reg office to do it,you don't need to contact anyone.. They will tell you on the day you go in for the meeting who is free on that day etc, how much extra it will cost to have them go to the venue, and if there are a few free they will ask you would you have a preference..
