Have heard all the ads on radio for tyre dealers to sign up to Repack for the new eVMC.

I presume the consumer will have to pay this new Tax. When will it be applied to consumers. Theres no mention of a date on Repack website. And no notification of new tax aimed at consumers yet or how much it will be, other than there will be 23% Vat added,no surprises there!!!

Last sets of tyres i bought for both car and bike had this charge so it's not a new tax, it's just making the cowboys finally pay for their rubbish

    https://repakelt.ie/retailers/

I'd be in favour of this but I have serious concerns about Repak being in charge of the scheme.
The sole purpose of Repak is to allow retailers to be exempt from having to collect the packaging they place on the market, which is an EU regulation that they circumvent by charging a fee to their members.

Retailers pay an annual subscription so they are exempted from having to collect the packaging they sell to you.

This will start at 2.80 but you can be very sure within a few years it will be a multiple of that.

According to the Tyre retailers assoc , the legit businesses are already recycling there tyres and this will increase the charges, but will have no effect on the cowboys

It will have no effect whatsoever on grey market operators because all you will have to do to circumvent it is buy your tyres cash in NI

    It's another stealth tax

They done a big blitz on tyres ( Which i fully agree with) introduced penalty points for bad tyres and now an extra charge?
