Anyone noticed how many DJs on the radio that used to be newsreaders beforehand?
    Dee Woods - Nova
    Conor Irwin - Nova
    Sharron Lynskey - SPIN
    Laura Bracken - SPIN

Can anyone think of any others?

And towards the end of last week Susan Keogh and Michael McMullen (with the ban in Irish times journos on communicorp, resulting in no presenter at the very last minute)

    There are many ...

Though a good few of them, in music radio anyway, should have stuck to the newsreading and leave the presenting to the music heads..

Ah, I was wondering why Susan was filling for Matt over Hugh Linehan.

Susan Keogh was good as a stand-in but when she was doing the segment with Noeleen Blackwell and another contributor, both of them kept calling her Sarah. I couldn't understand why she didn't pull them up. If someone calls the anchor by the wrong name, surely that's not a good thing.

I thought she was good for a first time in that position but felt that she got the tone wrong in places. There were a couple on who had gone through ivf and her closing line for that segment was "the girls are so lucky to have the best parents in the world".
Think she lacked a bit of gravitas but with more experience she'll be more assured. fairly sure she was thrown in with little notice

Can Bernie (Bernadette) Jameson be added to the list? I know she did the news for a number of years on different stations, and has had presenting roles on Spirit and Christmas FM. Was she a newsreader on the original Nova too? Though, she still does news on Nova and 4fm now.

I "think" technically its the other way around. IIRC she was a DJ on Radio Annabel (?) before news on Nova.

    And Southside.

Dee Woods was a producer on BBC Radio 1FM in the 80's.

Unless you mean a different Dee Woods, she wasn't born until January 1982!

I think I remember Adrian Kennedy reading the news on East Coast Radio back in the '90s.

My bad. I was thinking of Carol Dooley.

1982 !! Jesus you'd swear the way she (and other young presenters) go on about classic rock songs, artists etc and music in general you would swear she was born in 1952 !!
God bless the internet...a handy tool for music 'presenters'
