With Ballycotton off the menu for 2018, might make the entries for Dungarvan sell out a little quicker, so heads up, entries open on November 1st.

This is one of my long term 'want to do' ones so need to make some decisions on what I wanna do in 2018. Long time (years) since I did a series of run races...need to get that hunger back.

Is Trim not the following weekend? Was looking for a date for it there when I was posting this but couldn't find one for 2018.

Did 2014.... took me 4miles for the numbness to leave my hands and arms..
    Was quiet painful that day....

Someone asked me at the weekend if I'd entered yet, almost had a panic attack as I know how fast it sells out! Glad to see they were wrong & it's not 'til Nov as normal.

This is firmly on my radar - had originally planned a 10 Mile treble up of this, Mallow and Ballycotton but will have to settle for a double up at this stage.

Ran this back in 2012 and enjoyed it - I think I even passed out John Treacy himself around halfway :D

Cobh and Blackwater are 2 other very good 10 mile races in Cork if you are looking for alternatives to Ballycotton

What time on the 1st of November, do the entries open at?

I don't expect that there will be a "Ballycotton-style" rush on this (although.....) so you won't have to be sitting by your PC at midnight.

    Won't be far off it!

Finally got registered, site is totally overloaded.

Have a weather station?, why not join the Ireland Weather Network - http://irelandweather.eu/

Yep....got in there now after a few refreshes.

I'd say there's sparks flying out of a server somewhere in Dungarvan right now :pac:

Finally got in. I'm gone from never running again on Sunday to Beat the Train 10 mile, Waterford Half & Dungarvan 10 mile :):)

Based on these posts, in case it does sell out quickly, I'm in. Time to tick this one off the bucket list. 1:30pm start time is ideal for traveling on the day too.

I'm in, Waterford becoming a bit of a home away from home.

Be careful signing up I tried using this link: https://www.dungarvan10mile.org/ and it looks like I've paid for a West Waterford AC membership rather than actually signing up for the race!

Me too! Emailed them to see what's the story.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 210 ✭✭Bez Bing

Suspiciously both cost exactly the same 25 eur + 1.75 processing fee.

I came here to see if anyone else did the same thing - thankfully I'm not the only eejit!

Unless the link was wrong on the page? The membership and the race was the same price so I didn't cop it until the confirmation email came through for:

    "West Waterford A.C. Membership 2018 - Running-Membership - Adult Club Membership"

    I entered through this link:
    https://register.primoevents.com/ps/event/Dungarvan10Mile2018

I've emailed them to cancel the club membership !!

Yes - that's why I didn't cop it. Maybe I'm in the race twice now ?

adunford262@gmail.com (this address was on bottom of club membership receipt)

Oh Jesus I did the same thing! A dramatic increase in club membership this morning. Hopefully it won't be too difficult to get it refunded.

Thanks for that, very well hidden! A friend of mine told me he was trying to register before work this morning & couldn't find the entry site :)

Might have caught a few out there! Had to double check mine.

Got an email back saying the following

    Hi all entries

For a while this morning some entries to the Dungarvan 10 Mile Race were accidentally entrered as Club members.

We apologise sincerely for this inconvenience and wish to let you know that all entries are automatically entered into the John Treacy Race. Do not enter again as your entry is now complete.

We just request if you are a member of a club to reply to this email with your club details.

    Thank you for your patience

    Yours

    Ann Dunford

I didn't get any reply and have already re-registered on the correct link.

I know of several others with the same problem.

At least there appears to be the option of transferring your online entry this year (up until 12th January) - should make for a lot less no-shows on the day.

    Full

Got there with 5 places left in a queue and watched it tick down to zero.

On the waiting list so hopefully people that double booked this morning get sort and it frees up spaces

Yeah - I have 2 entries and it seems a good few others do too!

    And me

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,014 ✭✭✭✭Cartman78

Amazed that a) it sold out in about 4 hours and b) they somehow managed to make a mess of it.

Hope ye all get sorted at some stage

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 210 ✭✭Bez Bing

I double booked too and emailed Ann, just got an mail back saying that my membership fee will be refunded.

I'm sure everyone will be sorted.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,205 ✭✭✭Bahanaman

Got a reply also from Ann. Probably won't be sorted for a few days but there's no hurry. Maybe a few more places will be available then.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 20,369 Mod ✭✭✭✭RacoonQueen

Jesus that sold out fast. Glad I bit the bullet so! Unless they just took entries down while they sort out the mess from this morning.

Ah how many places were there that it sold out so quickly? I hope there will be more places, I couldn't make up my mind but sure it won't be the end of the world if there isn't
