    Hi Vox,

Apologies for the delay in response.

In January 2018, the Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU) launched a 10 week consultation on a national Connection Charging Policy proposed by Irish Water which is now closed.

Full details on the consultation including proposals are on the CRU website. The CRU public consultation closed on the 23rd of March and the feedback is currently being considers post the consultation. It is expected that the CRU will make a decision on the policy and changes later in 2018 including any transitional arrangements.

Until the proposal has been approved by the CRU, Irish Water charges customers in accordance with the CRU approved “Water Charges Plan”.

Sections 21 and 22 of the Water Services Act (No. 2) 2013 sets out that Irish Water shall charge customers as calculated in accordance with the approved Water Charges Plan. The current Water Charges Plan states (at Section 6) that in relation to new connections, Irish Water charges an amount “equivalent to the water and Wastewater related development levies which the Local Authorities were formerly entitled to charge.

We hope this clarifies things for you.

    Thanks,
    Mairead

€5K or even €10K connection fees to public service supplies represent pretty good value. Given the current position that there are no further consumption fees.

Costs of installing private wells and associated pumping equipment and in many cases 'biocycle' type septic tanks along with ongoing maintenance and costs would way exceed the above. It's a very good deal if you can get it :)

I previously contacted Irish water via emails about water coming out of a drain 6 months ago approx 151 Lally Road, Lower ballyfermot Dublin 10. I got a phone call at the time to say it would be looked at. Nothing has been done about it, it is now pumping waste water out in the street, can you fix this issue or not?
