Council wants to see her bank statements

The girlfriend is going to be evicted from where we live and she is looking for somewhere else on the HAP/RAS or whatever scheme. Out of the blue, they ask to see 6 months of her bank statements. Is this due dilligence from them? I transfer money to her account, but not more than the amount already agreed I wouldn't say. Sometimes she transfers money to me. Doesn't prove anything?

    Doesn't prove anything about what?
You say where we live - are you being evicted too?

If you are legit you will have no problems handing over bank statements.

why are ye getting evicted? And why only her statements and not yours? Do you live by the coast because this smells a little fishy to me

Do the Local Authority know that you are living there? And yes of course they can review her entitlement to a council payment at any time.

I reckon because she hasn't told them I stay there sometimes. I gather I'm not allowed even one night.

Could they just be checking to see that she doesn't have a job? I don't transfer much funds to her bank account.

Is she claiming One Parent Family payment? Or she did not declare you on her HAP application?

Asking for bank statements is normal practice. Mostly to check income. that you are not over the claim limit and also that you are paying rent each month.

They are not just evicting her without telling her why or giving her a chance to explain.
She must know why she’s being evicted .

You say from where WE live and then you say you stat there the odd n8fht which is it? Sounds like you transfer money to her as rent. If they see regular transfers from you they may wonder why and investigate further.

Already agreed between you and the Local Authority who are subsidising the woman's rent?

In which case the two of you have absolutely nothing to worry about.

Im guessing the OP isnt giving the whole story.

    Why is there an eviction?

Is it we live or you stay there occasionally?

If your girlfriend has nothing to hide then there shouldn't be a issue handing over the requested documents, got to play by the rules if you want help from the state.
