    Galway for me without doubt.
I’ve loads of family in limerick but they can wait another few years it’s a pity because against anyone else I’d be shouting for them.

Limerick ; Spread it around . Its great to see a genuine competition for the hurling unlike the procession for the football .

Limerick because I’m from Tipp living and working in Galway. Have had to listen to Galway workmates gloating and slagging me all year

Limerick. 1973 is a long time ago. Galway had their year last year and as another person here who is working with a load of them, they haven't shut up about it since. There'd be a slight bit of cockiness about them too.

I actually have a soft spot for the Galway hurlers, but I'll be hoping Limerick do it this time.

I'm neutral. If I had to choose, I would hope for Limerick to win, just to spread the cup around.

Limerick. Four years four different winners. A lot of counties within 10% improvement of winning. It will give Waterford Wexford great encouragement to stick with it.

Galway. One side of the family is from there and my earliest hurling memories are watching the semi finals in the mid 80's and going outside after pretending to be Gerry McInerney, Hopper McGrath etc.

Limerick - know some people from there but no one from Galway.

Tyrone for the football all the way tho.

Limerick, I think they've been excellent all year, really deserved their win against Kilkenny, didn't fold when the pressure came on in that game or against Cork.

It would be great for their long suffering fans and Henry Martin would get to write another chapter and perhaps a new title for his book.

Limerick as they have been waiting a long time and had heartbreaking defeats in 94 and 96. I also have more connections to Limerick with relations living there and my brother lived there for a number of years. It's nothing against Galway but they ended their famine last year so hopefully a new team can celebrate this year.

Limerick. As I've worked with/work with some limerick people and they are all good people(not that Galway people aren't btw) but 1973 is along time and Galway ended their drought last year. I know one Limerick guy and he's had a rough year and a bit and he's a limerick GAA supporter and I think it would do him good to see his home county win it all. He was there in 1973. I realise sentimentality doesn't win All-Irelands but as a neutral I'd like to see Limerick win it.

    Limerick.

I'd normally always shout for my neighbours over the border but Limerick have endured so much hurt since 1973.

Limerick for me as I live there and have followed all my life.
Have never witnessed our team winning an A.I. and since winning in 1973 we've
lost 5 finals (I've been at 4 of them).
Ironically last year a crowd of us watching were all shouting for Galway as every one of us wanted Joe to win that elusive medal. Our theory was that Waterford are young and would be back this year and definitely win one and we would be rooting for them. Not a single one of us predicted that we would be there ourselves.

P.S. hope Joe settles for that 1 medal for now....:D

Limerick. There are a good few lads on that team who deserve an all Ireland medal

I don't care, I've never been to either county. No in fact I want Limerick to win as I didn't like the Galway men I was sitting infront of in the 2001 football semi final.

Limerick are our rivals and noisy neighbours to the south, as a young kid I watched and rooted for the green and white on that miserable rainy day in Sept. 1973
seems as though it was 5 lifetimes ago now, its almost beyond belief that they've only won 2 All Ireland's in 78 years, that is just not befitting a great hurling county, hope they can bridge that yawning gap this Sunday

Limerick. Young lads and ladies cheering the Treaty back in the dim distant days of 1973 are now approaching pensionable age, and few would have thought Limerick could deny them another day like that up until the year 2018 (we hope). We suffered agony in '74, '80, '94 ,'96 ,2007 and despite the odd Munster title to keep the fire burning, it's been a procession of disappointment and heartbreak. I don't remember 73, I was too young, but believed after 1980 loss, we would surely come back regularly to reclaim Liam. But it never happened, and sometimes, in the dark depth of night, I am now struck by the thought that maybe I could pass from this earthly realm and never experience the joy and contentment of my county winning an All Ireland. Heaven knows the football lads will never do it sadly, but hurling, that's a different matter. I trust Limerick will do iton Sunday, I believe they will. 'Hon Luimneach!

Limerick, because I like the place.
Nothing really against Galway, and I'll always have a soft spot for them after their footballers saved humanity in 1998, but Limerick is probably my favourite place (city/town anyway) for heading out, etc.

Limerick - because it's been so long since their last AI win, and I have some cousins from Mungret :)

I've lived in both limerick and Galway and love them both, but I'm afraid I'm only cheering for one side on Sunday and that's Limerick. 45 years is a very very long time for a county that never really went too far off the pace to begin with.

    What's more, I think they'll do it.

Limerick for me btw. The Mayo of hurling. Don't think anyone would begrudge them an All Ireland and I've been impressed with them this year.

    Limerick.

I've long had sympathy for Limerick hurling fans, they're a bit like us in the football. Also, it's hard for me to support Galway in the hurling when I hate their football team.

Limerick. Born and bred in Dublin and follow the Dublin footballers but my father and all the relations on his side are from Limerick and I spend many a day in my youth on hols down their saving the hay (great memories) and hitting a sliotar around the fields. Always followed them growing up and still to this day and was and still am an attendee at a lot of their games been to the AI final in 1994. Come on Limerick

Limerick. I'm not going this time because the last time I went, Galway beat them in the final, 38 years ago!

    Bad karma.

    Limerick

Nice to see a different winner and this could kick off a new revolution

2017- Galway (at our expense 😪😪)
    2018- Limerick
2019- Waterford hopefully or if not a non big 3 county

It's hardship being a Limerick supporter normally. I was on the Hill in 1994 surrounded by dejected Offaly fans for 65 minutes having the crack, need I say more. I can remember sitting on the terrace in the Gaelic Grounds in 96 in the blazing sunshine with a roaring hangover at half time and we were about 10 points down. I think that was a low point but they rallied for a draw. I remember bringing my young lad to the 2014 game against Kilkenny and he turned to me when Shane Dowling scored from around 70 yds on 62 mins "I think we have them Dad!!" but I knew better than get my hopes up. Three weeks ago we were about 6 up against Cork in Extra Time and my buddy said much the same and even though we were home and hosed when Cork scored the goal, I couldn't breathe until the final whistle went. If Limerick win on Sunday, there'll be grown men crying all over the place (including me!). I still think this year might be a year too early: if so, it's been a great and very enjoyable season. I don't often wish Joe Canning not to get another AI medal, but please Santa, please, please postpone his 2nd until next year.

Any chance of putting up a poll like -
who do you want to win
    Limerick to win
    Galway to win
    Dont care/ netural
    Hoping for a draw.

Who do you think will win
    Galway to win
    Limerick to win
    Draw

Limerick, the mothers side of the family were all Limerick and hurling mad. Have fond childhood memories of being brought to Limerick matches during the summer.

Yep, looks very much like 31 v 1. Amazing what the bit of success does, although Limerick have always been very likeable as far as opposing counties go at the same time. Surprised by a couple of posters from other Connacht counties though, always thought Galway was their de-facto hurling side given that dont have one (at the top end). Perhaps not

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 957 ✭✭✭BloodyBill

South East Clare always support Limerick when Clare are out even though they are bitter rivals..as opposed to Clare v Galway where there is no real bite in the rivalry.
I also want to see Plan B put into action by the security in Croke Park. There will be a pitch invasion if Limerick win. 100% guaranteed.

If we weren't playing them ourselves I'd probably shout for Limerick too but Galway are only going for their 6th ever. We can't afford to be giving any away.

They’re the counties that voted to uphold keadys suspension in 89 not that I’d hold that against them

Limerick. I was there in 73, I was 4. I remember being lifted over the stile by my dad, walking up concrete steps and the roar of the crowd. And a lady behind us gave me a bar of chocolate. We had a picture of the team over the mantlepiece for years after, between DeValera and JFK. I'd give anything to be there but will make do with the big screen in the local town. The emotion and hope in the county is palpable. And the players, for their determination, commitment and skill, they deserve it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,279 ✭✭✭Lollipop95

Galway - As a Galway person though, it's a shame a potential win has to come at the expense of Limerick. Same with Waterford last year. I think every Galway person (probably even the team themselves) would much rather the chance to beat Tipp or Kilkenny :D Galway were the Mayo of hurling up until last year!

yea, a pitch invasion would be brilliant, always considered it one of the best things about All Ireland final day, would bring back a bit of lost romance plus stick it to the GAA big wigs....

Limerick all the way!! It's been too long a wait!! Roll on Sunday. Fully expect to go behind by 6 to8 points but once we not too far well catch them, it's when we seem to play at our best!
