Yes - empty your sweets into your pockets before you go in! Got a stare off a ref one time when I was trying to get a sweet out of a bag quietly, but in a silent theatre it turned out I wasn't doing it quietly at all...

Also if you need to pee at the mid session interval the queues can be terrible. But a good idea is to use the toilets over on the other side of the theatre as the other table probably won't break at the same time as the table you are watching and you can walk around on the outside (this only works during the two table setup obviously).

Carter and Wilson are back out after their midsession interval, while Higgins and Robertson are still playing their second frame of the day.

Arrive about 30-45 mins before the session to have a look round the place and put your coat in the cloakroom etc.

Go to the jacks just before the session starts and at the mid session interval, whether you need to go or not. Nothing worse than squirming in your seat needing to pee in the middle of a frame. If you go out you won’t be let back in until the frame is over.

Bring in a bottle of water in case you get a tickle in your throat. If you start coughing badly it’s mortifying. Buy an earpiece for the commentary.

If you wait outside the side entrance after the session you can get your program or tickets signed by the players.

Some tickets could be available at the on site box office if you queue up there from about 9am or so.

    It’s awesome being there, enjoy.

Thanks a mil md, great advice particularly 're staggered pee breaks and coughing! Delighted now, I'll get to see the eventual winner in action as I catch 1 session of both semis!

No bother - delighted you got sorted. The ticket I posted about last night was gone within an hour but more returned tickets went up for sale this morning. Looking forward to hearing about your experience. Enjoy!

It was the same story yesterday. Trump I think had finished his session before Robertson/Higgins even reached the interval.

Magnificent achievement by Wilson, the insufferable Carter is out.

What's the latest they can play before the tournament director will take them off to make way for the afternoon session?

The commentators were pointing out earlier that Higgins' break-building has really suffered this season. He's only made 24 centuries all season. It's really showing in this match -- he is struggling to get over the line and win frames.

So there is still a chance of the snooker commentators dream final of 'Wilson v Wilson' :D

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

I always wanted Marco Fu to meet Mark King, just so we could hear pundits talk evermore about the Fu King final. :D

Very good, never even thought of that one. John Virgo and Dennis Taylor would fall right into that trap I think.

Gilbert v O'Sullivan is vaguely funniest one that I could think of.
That has been Fu King shattered. :D

In a previous match I recall a commentator say that a frame can't be started any less that 45 minutes before the next session is due to begin.

And just after I criticize his break-building, Higgins knocks in a 130 to level at 7-7. :pac:

Higgins flying now, what a difference that one shot made.

God snooker pundits do spout some platitudes.

Jimmy White: "If there's one thing we can say about Kyren Wilson it's that he won't give up." Is there a player in the whole tournament he wouldn't say that about?

I wouldn't say it about Ding, he's a bit of a bottler at the Crucible. Collapsed again this year from a winning position.

9-7 to Higgins. That session was a pretty good example of bottle. Despite not playing anywhere near as well as Robertson for most of the match so far, Higgins has dug in and battled, and now has the lead going into tonight's final session.

Well you might say that but would any of the tv analysts. On air.

Anyway, that's the first re-rack I've seen this tournament.

The snooker in this Gilbert v Wilson session has been brutally bad.

I don't think we've ever seen twenty 147s in a single season. That's a bit mental. You might get ten in a good year. But I can see the likes of Ronnie playing more and focusing on trying to make as many 147s as possible if he thinks he can get a good chunk of Hearn's million. :D

Gilbert has moved 12-8 ahead now, so Kyren Wilson is heading home unless he can win five frames in a row.

Trump/Maguire are 10-4 now, so Trump can no longer win the match with a session to spare. Maguire has finally come to life, and it would certainly make things interesting if he could win the next two frames...

Most theres ever been is 12 but this will make people to go for them instead of an easier pink maybe. Some 147 attempts are as entertaining as making them. Dings in the Masters for example.

    What a stupid idea.

One reason it's stupid: It's near the end of the season and only 8 have been made. Why bother going for it then.

Its a bit of a con trick.

147s used to be mythical things which were technically possible but never likely. The chances of having on in the world championship were so remote that it made sense to out up a huge prize pot like £147,000 or a new Ferrari and take out insurance against having to actually pay the prize.

But now 147s are much more common so the insurance companies wont touch it. That's why the prize fund has diminished so much in the 20 years since 147s became more common.

But the very fact that 147s are more common takes from their magic. Its a bit of showmanship but the prize money will never really go up unless they can insure against them and make sure they're unlikely to have to pay out. So the inflation has gone up from one 147 to twenty 147s.

Cant blame anyone for wanting to recapture some of the magic of the 80s and 90s when there had only been a handful of televised 147s.

Gilbert through to the semifinals 13-8 against Kyren Wilson. Trump and Maguire will resume this evening at 11-5.

I remember Selby on the eurosport couch after he'd been eliminated last year along with ronnie basically calling Ding out for his bottle as he was losing to hawkins. Not saying he actually used the word "bottler" but that was the clear inference of what he was saying. It's why i prefer eurosport hundredfold to the bbc, you're likely to get some incisive analysis after matches as opposed to Steve "the standard has never been higher" Davis on the beeb.

That article seems to suggest that 20 different players would need to get 147s rather than just 20 147s with someone like Ronnie hitting 6 or 7 of them. I don't think there would be any possibility at all of 20 different players doing 147s.

It's like the £1m bonus they offer for any player winning the four Open titles. If there was actually a snowballs chance in hell of it happening, they'd never be offering it.
