It's pretty much as cheap now to buy 4k as it is 1080p. In fact there's usually better choice of 4k.

Also newer TVs, which tend to be 4k, also tend to have other improvements in the screen quality vs 1080p. Things like HDR.

And the size of the TV is only one aspect. How close you sit to it is another. If you sit 5-6 feet from your tv you'll notice the benefits of 4k on ~40".
A lot of the benefits are negatives too. Unless a program is in native 4K the sets etc look very fake

for anyone that is still looking , there are several available still in Newry, probably should have put this in Northern Ireland Bargains section really .

I think you might be talking about digital interpolation settings on tvs, usually set to mid or max, which add frames and create a soap opera effect. Switch all of these off and you'll get a much more natural effect.

They are only really useful for sports where motion fluidity makes the event feel live.

As for 4k sets upscaling 1080p data, this again is an interpolation but purely on the pixel count. No change in frame rate, no enhancing contrast. Hiw the upscale performs is down to the tv itself.

misread, ignore me! "looks out" does not equal "lots of"

One just popped up in each of Drogheda (Extra), Dun Laoghaire and Ilac Centre in the stock checker. Bagged myself one, others may still be there. I suspect they were reservations not collected and put back into stock at close of business

I’m after seeing one in Drogheda, which is handier for me, so I reserved it. If you want the reservation code for Monaghan I’ll pass it onto you. Needs to be collected by end of tomorrow though it said.

Anyone who bought this tv, what kind of remote control did you receive with it? My box contained a Fortec Star remote and it doesn’t seem to be working

to be honest, i went up twice to collect one ordered. on the second go, i thought, just have a look in Tescos while im here.
Picked up a 43" lg uk6300plb instead. same price, satellite receiver, bluetooth, all the apps, amazon, nowtv, netflix, and more , seems to have enough processing power to cope with al that, so far so good.

if anyone wants it i still have a reservation in argos for the samsung.

when you say a sat receiver, does that mean saorview inside the tv? bluetooth allows you to use bluetooth mouse and keyboard with it?
