    Hi guys

I am trying to replace my toilet seat but the fitting looks a bit unusual compared to the new ones I have seen in stores etc. and I can't even work out how to unscrew it. Below is a picture - can anyone advise if it is possible to get a new seat to replace it, and also how to install it?

    Thanks a mill!

    Looks bog standard to me...

Theres a threaded rod runs down from the metal bit, through the holes in the toilet pan.
Should be a large plastic thumbturn type nut holding it down.

The fittings are usually offset to allow a bit of wiggle room in positioning the seat.

Thanks so much - sorry I was looking at videos online and they looked different. Do you know how I can remove it? There aren't any visible screws or anything, do I need a social tool or do I just pull it out? Sorry for the stupid question, this is new to me!

    Thanks again

Have a look underneath, should be a nut of some kind screwed on you’ll need to remove

Feel underneath and you should feel a nut/wingnut.

It will be fairly obvious when you look at a replacement seat how it fits and therefore how to remove the old one.

If you're replacing as it's loose the tightening screw and bolt is underneath as said put your hand down the back under exact spot and you will feel the parts

That is a bog standard fitting, so any toilet seat should fit. Most of the newer type seats come complete with fittings that do not require access to the underneath of the toilet (so much easier to fit).

Super - thanks so much for this. I feel like I right fool now :o
I presume I just unscrew the nut and lift the lid off from the top. I think even I can manage that!
